Best place for "Tiny Baby" clothes?

My sister in law has just had her first baby, and everything which was on her birth plan went out of the window. She wound up with a C section, an infection, and a beautiful but very small baby, who is too little for the standard newborn size clothes. "Tiny Baby" is the only size which fits.
Her husband managed to find one outfit in the small Boots near where they live, but that's all they've got. Since he doesn't drive, and she's definitely not getting in a car for a while, I've offered to pop out and get them a few long sleeved/legged sleep suits. The question in, where is the best shop to go to? My first thought was Matalan, but we don't have one of those near us. Any suggestions for places to get a few cheap, basic tiny baby sleep suits?

I had a 7 week premature baby last year and one of the best places to find tiny baby clothes was Asda.
I think that they did an up to 5lbs range and possibly an up to 3lbs range and you should be able to get the basics from there.

I love Mothercare stuff - it washes very well - but it's worth noting that their stuff comes up very big. My daughter was on the small side and was always at least one size down from the label, sometimes two. And my son is an average size at 9.5 months but still in his 6-9 months Mothercare sleepsuits.
This time round I've found Sa!nsbury's surprisingly good quality. Reasonably priced, and while it comes up small, it's useful in cases like this. I wouldn't get too many, though, as all being well, the baby will be in the next size up before she knows it! (Sa!nsbury's used to do premature baby nappies too, which were handy for the first week - I didn't need them this time!) I hope your SIL is okay - a surprise Caesarean isn't the most fun way to start parenthood!0 -
When my Godson was born tiny (similar circs to your nephew actually on Christmas Day too!) I got loads from Asda and they were all excellent couldn't fault them washed fantastically and were good qualityFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0

I have just bought tiny baby clothes from mothercare as my daughter had her first baby 4 weeks early by caesarean last week after developing pre eclampsia. They have tiny (5lbish) , new baby (up to 7.5lb) and very tiny for very premature babies. Luckily my daughter's baby was 6lb 11oz so not a bad size for a preterm baby so it depends on how small your SIL's baby is.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. My daughter was 6 weeks early and weighed only 3lb 10oz six years ago. At the time we had a Pumpkin Patch store in a local shopping centre which did a tiny size for around 3lb babies.
I still found the tiny sizes a bit big though as she was very petite but her weight was centered in her middle if that makes sense!
Other than there, i think I had Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury ones. It was whatever my mum could get hold of as i was not up to shopping. I had also had Pre-Eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome and had to have to emergency c-section.
Best wishes to the new mum and baby.0 -
Another vote for Asda here - I was in there yesterday and had some really tiny sizes - I had a look (no need to really!) and they were lovely quality, not that expensive either.
Congratulations on the baby too!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

I bought from Mothercare, Tesco, Asda ... but also got quite a lot second-hand from fellow preemie Mums and even eBay.
I still have a suitcase full of littl'un's tiny clothes, it's the one size that I cannot bear to part with
