You need to question your insurance company as to why they have restricted you to buying from Currys.

They will have a contract with Currys and they probably get a 20% discount on the face value of the vouchers , Zurich use Empire Direct, its common practice in the insurance industry

That doesn't make it acceptable, the insurance companies don't accept vouchers as payment, so they shouldn't restrict their customers with vouchers.

Wether its right or wrong, thats why they do it, its probably burried in the t+c's somewhere.

And just because its dearer in Currys dosent mean the OP is getting ripped off, if the value of vouchers given covers a replacement camcorder of an equivilent speccification then there is no problem,if they havent given enough then you need to speak to the insurance company and get some more vouchers, i think the op is trying to get a better one and have some vouchers left over to buy something else, there is nothing wrong with that of course.

    >they are a horrible company who treets customers like dirt

Don't think that is a very fair assessment (based on this incident). The only reason you don't like them is that your insurance company is forcing you to use them. It's not Curry's fault that you have to buy there.

Why not tell your insurance company that you can get the camera elsewhere cheaper, and get them to send you vouchers for the lesser amount to use at Dixons?
  • why do you keep trying currys stores?? it say this on there website "
who do we price match against?
we’ll price match against the lowest price offered by these retailers, whether that’s online or in-store
Argos Comet PCWorld Woolworths B&Q Jessops Tesco John Lewis" dosent say dixons asfar as i can see:confused: As mentioned already by others If you lets us all know the make/madel etc im sure fellow MSE's can help you find it cheaper elswhere and just save you currys vouchers for something else:money:

They told me they couldn't price match Dixons, and even though there the same group Dixon's is always cheaper as its Online only, they cut there budget y having no stores...hence being able to sell for less.

I was after a 32" Samsung TV, 495 at Dixons, 649.99 in currys!

In the end I went for the bigger version at John Lewis which was 799 and got them to price match Empire direct for 624.99.

So I got an extra 5 inch's for less money than Currys! :T

    SIZE DOES MATTER!!! :rotfl:

Hi, unfortunately I work for currys and have done for too many years to think about The rule is that Dixons now only exists as taxfree airport stores and on the internet, so do not qualify for the price match. you may find that an individual may choose to override that, some of the salespeople still want to wheel and deal by experience this will be more likely in one of the larger etail park stores than the high street as the discount level needs to balance out against the sales quantity Therefore bigger store = more sales = more discount to play around with. I wouldn't mention your insurance vouchers until after the price is agreed. Hope that helps
