currys , anyone succesfully got them to price match dixons?

There is a camcorder i am after and its 579 on dixons website but 699 in currys store. I have to use currys as i have vouchers from my insurance company for them :(.

Ive been into 2 stores today, both currys digital. First store the guy said they do not price beat full stop. So i went to the 2nd, and the guy said hed ask his boss after i shown him a printout of the dixons website. Hwoever he came back and said no.

Went back to the 1st one again, and asked someone else who said that they will price match a store within a certain radius, as long as they have it in stock and dont operate on the internet!.

What a waste of space price promise. Now im stuck with these crappy vouchers and am basicly being forced to pay extortionate currys prices.

Going to try another currys on the way home, but im not optomistic atall.

Going by your prices, I assun=me it is the Sony HDR SR5 you are looking to buy. Currys should price beat (110% of difference) Comet who have it for £619.99. This will bring it down to £612. Not as good as Dixons, but probably the best you can do.

my bloke worked in pc world and i know sometimes they didnt accept price matches for online stuf for something like that.

Currys and dixons are the same group, its probably cos one store doesnt want to loose the profit. It might be worth trying as many different sales assistants as you can, be really friendly. I would do alot in my shop for a friendly person, and in those kinda stores they get some pooey customers i can tell thee.

yes currys price match within a certain radius (think it's 15 miles) but they DO price match with dixons.in fact when buying a new fridge freezer recently the sales guy even told me ( i knew anyway of course) and took me over to the pc to checkout prices.forget how much i saved but it was around £100 i think.
  • Im going to go to another currys tomorrow and ask there.

The annoying thing is that there are alot of sites on the net, over 12 at least that have it for as low as £560, some have shops some dont. They shouldnt be allowed to do it, as there is no small print on the massive "we wont be beaten on price" sign. And yes, that is the camcorder im after.

Your joking? I could have that camera in my hand now if they had done that as i was willing to put the extra to my voucher and get it there and then.

I wouldnt mind, but i was ever so polite , despite getting angry and even thanked the person afterwards. Not sure what for though!

Thanks for the input guys, but it sounds like you have to get the one sales assistant in a million who is willing to help.

I had a similar problem when looking to spend my insurance vouchers on a new TV. The one in dixons was £1510. The one in Currys was £2499. Suffice to say currys would not price match at all.
They said they would be making a loss if they sold it for less than £2499. what a load of rubbish! I ended up buying it from Empire direct for £1499 and spending the vouchers on various other items for the house. I still hve a fair chunk left.

just tell them that you've done your homework and you know abt the price matching.if you're still not happy then ask for the manager but don't leave the store till you get what you want.yes be nice but don't look like you're a pushover-and being a little cheeky always helps.it took me over a week to choose my fridge freezer ( 3 trips to currys) and in the end i got the price matching and 10% off for doing the finance thingy.the sales guy was very impressed with the deal i got.in fact he told me that the majority of people don't even ask abt discounts.
  • would they do the 110 percent thing with amazon?
