Best online place to sell books _ eBay? Amazon?

I've just had a massive clear out of books and I was rather shocked after one charity shop refused to take a bag of 30. I then rang around other shops and found a few who would still accept books, so a donated several bags of paperbacks and hardbacks to them. I also sent about 50 paperbacks to my local mental health ward, since my own experiences of being in there made me recall how rubbish and old the books where they had.
I didn't even entertain the idea of selling on eBay since the postage costs would just outweigh any money made.0 -
If you aren't bothered about making alot and simply want to get the space there are plenty of sites where you type in the ISBN number and they give you a price. Once at a certain amount you pack up and send either by post or easier via courier-usually via a local co-op or spar so easy peasy and free.
Someone already mentioned we buy books, but there is also Momox, fatbrain, amazon trade in (but they are closing end of August and only give you amazon credit) and Zapper.
Currently putting in some paperback crime novel type books and zapper are giving 20p a book which seems to be higher than the others. Not much but I have literally hundreds and hundreds of books to clear out of garages, loft, sheds and various bookshelves so am just happy to get something for a box full. Will try the various sites for best prices and get rid. Any that will not sell anywhere I will probably give to local charity shops, although our local cash for clothes shop will take books albeit at a low price per kilo rate.
The way I am looking at it is I had the pleasure our of the books and in fact many were given to me by others clearing out (I am a bit of a horder and trying to make headway in clearing some of the amassed "stuff". So to get something back and have an easy way to get rid of boxes at a time is great. Will be using any cash raised from my great clear out (not just books for sale lol) towards Crimbo for the kids and a few items to help with storage for the future.

You put in the ISBN number of the book on the site and they will make you an offer of a price if they want it. You can usually find a code to bring the price up slightly higher too (10% or so). You can be paid by bank transfer, check in the post or by Paypal and they're very quick. You can also post things off for free too if you opt to take them to a collection centre.
Thank you for alerting me to Amazon trade-in! I had no idea it existed until today, no luck with most of my books but I am sending 3 off tomorrow for just under £20. Much less hassle than eBay, no fees and I'm 3 books lighter. Such a shame they are stopping it!0 -
Anyone have any idea of how I value and sell an author signed book?0

Anyone have any idea of how I value and sell an author signed book?
All you can do is check Amazon and see if anyone has one listed under 'collectable', likewise ebay completed items.
It really depends on the author though, being signed often makes very little difference.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
