Im with you Dolly. One for emergencies then never again! Wanted to wish you luck for the house project. Im not sure if this helps or not but i got my mortgage with Around £5,000 on credit card so might be quicker than you think. Xxxx
2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

    2018 plans - reduce debt
  • Oh did you PSL, I just thought you would have to be debt free to get a mortgage but I suppose as long as you are able to show that you can afford the payments & the mortgage then it will be fine.

My mind is kinda set now to get rid of the debt then start on the savings so for the minute that is what I am going to do.

Work is so busy today!!! Day is flying in though so that's good.

Trying to find & squeeze in a couple of surveys during the day too, would be rude not too! Might get something towards my Christmas shopping at this rate.

My bank account is switching tomorrow, I have 2 DD's due out on the 10 July 2016. I am not that confident that it is going to work but hey ho not up to me is it. Will just wait & see I suppose.

My reward for this account should be due in my account on 20 July I think so that will be 100.00 which I can put to good use.

Hi Dolly, I remember that feeling when it started being about the future rather than just getting the debt down. I think that was my true LBM. Having lower debt just didn't feel like an achievement if you know what I mean. The idea that once the debt was gone I'd have that extra money to save and invest made me feel like I could build something positive and that was much more motivating for me.
Hang on in there, its worth it :)

    Hi Dollyrocker,
We got a mortgage with credit card debts to our name too- we had about £8K on cards at the time- it all comes down to affordability with the mortgage app so they will be looking to see how much income Vs outgoings.
That said when you buy somewhere unless you are getting something perfect it usually needs costly work, so if you can be out of debt you will be putting yourself in the best position.

  • Thanks Ramble.

This is also one of the reasons we are trying to do it with no debt, just incase we need to make any renovations etc.

    76.90 :money:

Think I will manage alright with this.

I am expecting a 50.00 cheque from surveys & 100.00 from my bank for switching my account but I don't like to rely on this in case it doesn't come in for whatever reason.

Plans this weekend for me are Malmaison for burgers & beer then Derren Brown tomorrow night - all PIF so I don't think I will spend a penny tomorrow night :j

Tomorrow day time I will likely pick up my mum from work & drop her home then get home to get myself ready for my night out with the DH, might spend about 10.00ish if I get a subway lunch & a coffee.

Ideally that will be all I will spend this weekend.

Grocery spends next week will be under budget as the DH is away with work most of the week, I am gonna try & eat from the freezer & cupboards so will only need to spend for the nights he is at home which might only be Thursday & Friday.

Im eating from my freezer too. It does the job! I hope you and dh enjoy it tommorow. When im more comfortable im going to start going to the theatre again, its just so fantastic and so addictive. When you see a show you just want more and more.
The bank and survey money will arrive soon, these things always take longer than you hope. Xxx

  • I love the theatre too!

Going to see Rocky Horror Show next month too, you only live once!!

It is so expensive though that's the only negative.

We sure will my sweet will pop on tomorrow & let you know how it was.

  • Well Derren Brown was amazing on Friday night, ended up being a good night out budget wise as we bought an Itison voucher for dinner & a drink before we went out.

Had another drink in the theatre before it started & bought a programme & that was all we spent.

    Quite happy with that.

I'm gonna have to start keeping a better track on my 'Grocery Budget' that's starting to creep up again, this is one of the reasons I have the majority of debt on my Sainsburys CC, that & meals out :rotfl:

    Must do better!

In work today, should be a low spend day, don't have much choice I have about 40.00 to last me until payday & have 2 nights out next week  Lord only knows how I am gonna manage that!

Might need to borrow from my 'Canada Fund' then pay it back when I get my 50.00 cheque & 100.00 cashback from the bank.
