jdjd defeats her debt!

Hi everyone,
I have been following lots of diaries for a while and have been inspired. My current situation is that I have a gorgeous hubby and toddler, we have tried on many occasions to reduce our debt but we seem to never get there. Since sharing your stories I am inspired and am going to tackle it this time. I have decided to tackle the credit card first, then the loan and work out of the overdraft gradually each month. I have been inspired by the 1% challenge and will try lots of other ways to defeat the debt, basically any spare cashwill be thrown at the debt.
So far I have:
Sold some things from around the house on ebay. made 22.00
Cleared the quidco account. Made 12
All of this will go towards the credit card. So thats 34/83.05.
Jobs for tomorrow includepost ebay bits
Check house for other auction bits
Sort ds clothes and see if I can sell any.
Work out how much to get phone unlocked so I can auction
Looking forward to this xxx

  • Hey jdjd83,

Nice to have you with us.

I have also started a new diary to finally get rid of this debt.

Well done on the ebay auctions & stuff you are off to a good start.

I might have a wee clear out & do the same over the next couple of weeks.

  • Excellent, I think I will go for a NSD on Friday.

I always spend when I am working Sunday - Thursday cos I buy part of my lunch like fruit on the morning.

I am planning to stay in on Friday.

Had a nsd day today lovely walk with the little one and then playing at home. Paid some from my credit card and can do the same tomorrow as someone paid for their auction bits, still feeling excited and look forward to checking in on everyone. Hubby is on board as well left his bank card at home today (he is forever swiping as I put it!!) this is progress.
Also looked at swapping all direct debits to one account and keeping our other account forour monthly budget, this will mean it will take longer to get out of overdraft but we wont go any further into it as we will deal in cash. This will make me feel less stressed so fingers crossed!!
    Happy debt busting

  • Sounds like a good day.

I did plan a NSD today but ended up out & bought a subway salad & a latte. I did take some clothes back though that I bought last week so at least that's something!

I have a bank account for our bills & we each have a separate account for our own monthly spends. I need to give my husband his money weekly otherwise he would spend it all in no time & I would always have to be transferring money from my own account to keep him going until payday.

    That works for us.

Little one is asleep so am updating now.A positive dayso far, posted the ebay items and spent the morning with my folks. Saw a price glitch that meant I could get an expensive car seat for 49p, will see if they honour it, if they do it will be a bargain. Hubby just called to say he has recieved his back pay so that is an extra £200, we are going to use it for the overdraft as we are doing well with the cc.
Speaking of the cc have cashed in my paypal so I have another payment to make of 30.00, well pleased with the way the credit card is looking.
We are off out tonight, have drawn out the money and will not be going over it.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Nothing much to report had two lsd just a few essentials so quite pleased. Need to fill car up. Have transferred the money for dd into savings and kee p transferring it when the dd comes out, sounds strange but it helps me know how much money I have left in my budget. Updated my meter readings, still in credit so am really pleased. My deal is due to end and they have offered me a new deal that is cheaper, so a positive there as well. More money to throw at the debt xx
