"Lost" NCD due to Computer Error

Hi.
I've just realised that in August 2012 I had 9 years of NCD, and my current insurance certificate has a 10 year NCD on it.
I've just gone back through my Insurance Certificates, and it turns out that the insurance company I jumped to in 2012 (Swift Cover) only supported "More than 8 years NCD" on the application form... so when they issued me a certificate in 2013 they put me down as having 8 years NCD instead of the expected 10 years. I should have checked.:(. I've just sent them an email to confirm this, and that there were no claims made against me without me knowing.
I'm wondering what my chances are of getting them to re-issue my NCD "Correctly", and then the 2 subsequent companies for 2014 (Hastings Direct) and 2015's (Surething) insurance to re-issue their NCD certificate so that I can legitimately use it for my 2016 insurance?
Has anyone done this in the past?

Does it actually make any difference, ten or twelve years?0
-
Most see 9 as a maximum so don't worry about it.0

It doesn't make a huge difference, but Admiral allow more than 9 years, so the difference between a 9 year NCD and a 12 year NCD is £95, enough to query, especially as they were already ~£50 cheaper than the nearest quote.0

What a 40% discount? I'll give them a try come renewal.0 -
My last two renewal emails from Swiftcover show 14 and 15 years NCB. Try searching your old emails.

it is an important point that some companies only go to particular cut-off points, in my case, 9 years. It definitely isn't correct. They could easily write their software in a different way to show the full period of NCD and only take account of the period they think relevant for their premium.
No doubt when everyone has thrown away all their old insurance policies and a smart operator takes the discount larger for 10 or 11 or whatever years, those same companies will fail to acknowledge, or even bother looking, for the longer period of NCD that the driver is entitled to.0 -
Actually it can make a huge difference. I ended up being blacklisted and paying an extra 1K a year when a computer error of my old insurer was picked up by a new firm.
Despite being able to prove all bit one of the ommissions, the old insurers dug their heels in and refused tto tell the truth. I could get no further with restitution. I'm still paying several hundred over the odds.0 -

I keep copies of ncb and combine them to prove my ncb.
OP. I've found a Swiftcover, proof of ncb letter which I requested dated 2011 showing I have 13 years ncb.0 -
It's probably just another way to discourage customers to switch to another company come renewal time.0

Insurers are welcome to chose what ncd is relevant to them and ignore anything they don't value but they shouldn't revalue an individuals ncb to suit their views. I've got a copy of an Aviva renewal for a policy which initially needed a minimum 5 years ncb to apply for. I had 13 years ncb when it started The renewal states, Thank you for insuring your car with us over the last year and that I have now 5 years ncb?.

Thanks for the confirmation that swiftcover do provide more than 8 years NCD!
I've got all my old renewal quotes from 2011 on, so I can see that Swiftcover was the reason for the error.0
