  • Thanks- this is really helpful information.

We are waiting for some TW homes to be released- currenly we don't know the prices of the house and have found it incredibly difficult to get any information about extras as they "always change". I still found it incredible to believe that turf and fencing is an "extra"!!

Were you able to have an "incentives" thrown in or reductions? The vibe we are getting is that there are so many buyers that the developers don't have to any more, it would be interesting to hear others experiences?

Any other tips to consider when buying with Taylor Wimpey would also be appreciated.

    Thanks
  • We are hopefully buying our TW home end December and at the moment going through options which is hilarious as although they call them your options they have full control of where and how many you. For example 'spotlights!' Which have gone up from £66 in August to £73 in September! The question that I have is about the cooker, we are upgrading but only option2 as option3 kitchen takes away workspace! So wanted to know if anyone had the zanussi single or double oven and were they any good? Any help/advice gratefully appreciated
  • This is really interesting I am buying a TW hopefully to move in before xmas this year (2015) We have been asked for 50% for extra options in advance if before exchange, otherwise you pay on competition.

I am trying to put them off till we exchange, so don't have to pay yet.

I have found it impossible to get anything free. They told me I am getting 'free appliances' but I think everyone is on that site.

Extras soon mount up so trying not to get sucked in to doing everything, but flooring in the bathrooms is pretty essential I think !!
  • Yes it seems everything has a price! Even have to pay for power in garage! The options can spiral quite a bit and we to are trying to put off paying up front until exchange! Wishing you luck!

This is a bit off topic.....apologies!
I am thinking of purchasing a new Barratt house at £310k and was wondering how much the asking price can be knocked down?

Did you achieve a discount and if so what % did you achieve?

If you couldn't negotiate a discount did you negotiate on the cost of extra's?

    Hi,
Just about to buy a 3 bed new build with Taylor wimpey, hard to get any really good deal on stamp duty etc. as in real demand.
I would like get my own choice of bathroom, Kitchen, and tiling to bathroom and kitchen and have a builder who is good.
When do I let them know this and does that mean they will just supply property without a kitchen and bathroom and I then fit or will they put basic in and me then take out.

    How would this work.?

Also when would my man be able to get access?

Am I better them to do certain stuff and then me get the rest done.?

    Any help would be good.

A house is not considered to be habitable unless it has functioning bathroom and kitchen, so, I'd assume they MUST be fitted to get signed off.

That means you'll have to rip them out and start again if you want your own choice I'd have thought.
  • Hi everyone. I'm looking to buy a TW house and just wondered where got there or is in the process of getting them from? I'm looking at Eastbourne. I've done a lot of research on house prices, as much as I can with upgrade costs etc. Just wondered if anyone else happened to be already in or also looking at Eastbourne?
    Thanks
