Yes when you reserve with Taylor Wimpey you get a full print out off all options and they are specific to your house style so tiling, flooring etc is all exact.

I know Barratt homes can be a bit vague about options and don't give a list until further down the line and even then it misses a lot off, I only know as my brother in law is currently buying one and couldn't believe when we came home from reservation meeting with a nice file and all the price lists.

That would be really handy. Bovis are being vague as well but I'll see if they can email me a list or something.

Bovis don't have an upgrade list as most stuff is included as standard. We have exchanged on a bovis and all I've paid for is an outside tap, fencing and kitchen upgrade.

Do you mind sharing how much you paid for the outside tap and kitchen upgrade and how much you had to pay prior to completion?

I should be exchanging within a couple of weeks and was told fence was included but I am looking at a few extras such as full bathroom tiling and kitchen upgrades.

£98 for outside tap and £208 for kitchen upgrade.

We got ceramic tiling to kitchen/diner, hallway and carpets included.

Payment of extras just after exchange, we complete next month.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't able to get anything included other than stamp duty. I'm not completing until December so was hoping I wouldn't have to pay for the carpets and extras until then but looks like that won't be possible with Bovis.
  • Hi I am buying my first TW home in 2016 and just wanted to ask a few questions about upgrades and rough prices if anybody is going through this process. I would like a door to be built in the garage leading into the garden. Has anybody had a recent quote for this? (I'm going to het flooring etc done by my own tradesmen. ) how do you pay for these extras? Are they added onto your mortgage? Paid for in full with cash? The sales exec wouldn't give me this info "as prices vary etc" thank you everybody (im new to this forum but it seems fab!)

    Hi laurasimcox1,

We have paid £280 for a personnel door into garage with our Taylor Wimpey Home, a lot of prices are house specific based on size of house so I assuming doors would be same price for all house styles.

Once you have exchanged contracts you don't have to pay for any of your options until completion, this would be cash though as you can't add these to your mortgage. If you haven't yet exchanged and you need to choose your options then you pay 50% up front and the rest on completion. That's how our site works anyway. As your house is a while off im assuming you will have exchanged contracts before choosing anything though.

    Good luck
  • Hello all,

I do work in new homes and worked for Barratt Homes within sales for 3 years so I know the ins and outs of buying new build. However, we are waiting for Taylor Wimpey to release the plot we want and in the meantime I'm making a list of incentives and extras to use when we reserve - I'm just going to be upfront and ask what % they are working to and get the best I can (it's a brand new site with a lot of interest so it'll be tough). I realise prices for extras vary, but could I ask what spotlights have cost anyone who has had them? These are top of our list! They usually cost them per light. Also I'd be keen to know what it has cost for integrated appliances with TW?

Thanks in advance and I'll try and return the favour for any queries! :)

    Katie
