  • Not sure what package you are on. Do you get BT Sport with BT broadband or through Sky?

I don't get any satellite reception at all at the moment as builders have erected scaffolding and blocked the signal.

I have been using online internet TV services and I can tell you I sure miss the sky+ box and the EPG. I know sky often get a bad press but their services, (as I have discovered) do make life a lot easier for watching TV and especially sports.

The only suggestions I would make are cut out the HD, consider getting BT sports with BT broadband, and go back to Sky and see if you can negotiate a half price deal.

Depends what you watch. If you want BT Sport, BT are doing a lot of very good deals to switch to their broadband at the moment and you get BT Sport for free (or maybe £5 a month depending on the deal/package). You can also get a You View box (again depending on the package) which does everything your Sky+ box does, but for Freeview channels. If you're not bothered about the sport and are happy with Sky for BB then you could just cancel the TV and get a Freeview recorder, You View box of Freesat box for around £200, which will again give you the same functions as Sky+ to watch and record stuff.
    .
If you then want any Sky programmes, the cheapest way of getting them is Now TV, which works like a kind of Netflix for Sky channels. You can get this for a month's free trial and then it's £6.99 a month for the entertainment pack, but if you go to cancel (which you can do easily online) they'll make you an offer, usually ends up at £5 a month but last time they gave me four months at £3.49 a month. If you don't have anything to watch Now TV on through your TV at the moment (you can watch via your laptop, tablet or phone too) you can buy a Now TV box for £20 which will come with three months 'free' (the box also has BBC iPlayer, All4 (I think) and a few other apps). If you want Sky Movies that's £9.99 a month and Sports passes can be bought daily, weekly or monthly.
    .
My advice would be to have a look on the BT site and see what they can offer but certainly paying (at least) £21 for Sky TV is entirely unnecessary now.
