I am sorry officer, it was an automatic response to raise my arm to to protect myself when the cyclist deliberately rode through the red light at speed. It was unfortunate that I was holding an umbrella at the time, yes rain is forecast later, and also unfortunate the red light jumping cyclist decided to swerve to avoid it. I do hope the driver of the bus they hit is not too shaken up. Nothing further then? Fine I will toddle on then.

I've nearly been run over a few times by cyclists speeding through red lights. If you're going to be on the road, you should follow the same rules as everyone else, imo.

What are your feelings on pedestrians only being allowed to cross the road when the man is green?
Or should they be allowed to cross on red, if it's clear and safe to do so?

Pedestrians should always have right of way on a pedestrian (or zebra) crossing when crossing on a red light - why on earth would it be otherwise.
I don't think cyclists should be allowed to go on red, clearly you then have cyclists who would think they had right of way over the pedestrians - as you have suggested above.

And as a cyclist and motorist i stop when the light is amber or red.
You'd be surprised the amount of pedestrians who walk in front of me when i'm driving or cycling when the light for me is green. Some just walk out without a care in the world even if there's no lights nearby as they know motorists will stop rather than run them down
