Folk from Belfast let's hear it!

We are going to Belfast in September for two days & two nights.

Don't have a massive budget, won't be hiring a car.

Have flights and accommodation sorted.

Can anyone who has travelled there or is from there give us advice on things to do that are free or for folk on budgets? We obiously want to see as much as possible and want to travel outwith Belfast aswell [do Giant's Causeway etc..].

So c'mon tell me all about how great it is to live/travel there!

Thanks!

I know they have them every where, but the open top busses that leave from the centre of town, outside game and McDonalds, are pretty good and an excellent way to see the city.

When your at the Giants Causeway a trip to the Carrick a Rede Rope Bridge (which is national trust) is always worth while and then there is the north coast, including Portrush - N Irelands very own version of somewhere like blackpool (without the glamour - Hard to believe I know)

The open top busses take you round to see murels etc from the troubles.

If your looking somewhere to go out and party at the weekend the Odysee complex is good with various pubs/clubs aswell as a cinema, 10 pin bowling, pizza hut and a chinese restraunt. Its a min fare taxi ride if you are staying in central belfast).

There is also the titanic quarter if your into that sort of thing!!

    Hope this helps

Near the Giants Causeway there is a small hotel called the Smugglers Inn and they do (like a lot of hotels in the area) a deal on 2 nights B&B with one dinner for about £90, rooms are fine but the food and atmosphere are really good and its a great base for the entire north coast

    They have their own website

For a bit of history goin a bit beyond the troubles, try the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh or the Ulster Folk and Transport museum in Cultra.

Also, Bushmills distillery near the Giants Causeway for some real whiskey to take home to Scotland ;)

And if staying in Belfast, then get yourself a Guinness in the Crown Liquor Saloon on Gt Victoria St.
