Mobile Phone for One Man Business

Hi, I don't know if this question belongs here or in the Small Biz section, but thought I would start here.

My husband is considering going self employed, but he will primarily be working for one company and so he will be able to bill the company for his business calls. He wants a mobile phone deal which is costed in a similar way to a landline, ie a low monthly rental (preferably on a rolling monthly contract) where you pay for the calls you make. These are likely to be international calls to and from the UK and elsewhere on a regular basis. He would need a little bit of data for emails, but doesn't use texts. He doesn't need any free minutes as the phone would be solely for business. He doesn't own a personal mobile phone so cannot make use of any sim only deals.

So far, I've only found lengthy contracts where you have to buy 'add ons' to cover the international calls. These are often 'zoned' in some way which makes it complicated, and expensive if you want the freedom to anywhere in the world, from anywhere in the world.

Does anyone have this type of deal with their mobile provider, or can someone suggest a company who would offer this.

You say international calls, would these be europe only or include ROTW(rest of the world), may well make a difference.

Have a look at tmob, you can get an add on to call 08 nums and then use a 08 call through number to call abroad.

Europe and the rest of the world, both from within the UK and from elsewhere when he is travelling overseas.

I thought T mobile were taken over by EE. I spoke with EE yesterday and they work in a similar manner to O2, ie a 24 month contract with add ons for overseas calls, but even then different countries are in different zones, and calls from overseas to other countries including the UK gets even more complicated!
