Consumer FTTP provider options?

Options
Hi All,

I am currently staying in a relative new build flat. The only connection type I have to my apartment is FTTP at the moment. Meaning that, except from BT, almost all of the other major home broadband providers cannot provide me broadband service. (SKY, TalkTalk, Plusnet, EE)

I checked providers that do have FTTP service (e.g. Zen) but they are quite expensive and only offer FTTP to Business subscribers only.

Any suggestion? coz BT is putting their price up!

:(:(:(

BT is the lowest price for FTTP apart from Plusnet who will supply it at the same cost as FTTC BUT you have to transfer to adsl with them first and then upgrade to the FTTP Trial and any cashback offers will not be accepted.

No, I am already with BT and my place do not have any other connection apart from FTTP (no ADSL, no FTTC). So I was kind of stuck with BT when they hike the price mid-contract (6.4% increase!), until now!

I keep searching online and found out that Plusnet offers FTTP trial. I tweet there official twitter and they are very helpful and start looking at my situation. They are now proceeding my order, FTTP! Very impressive Customer Services. :T

If you can rally enough interest with fellow people in your block of flats, you may be able to get Hyperoptic.
  • If the flats already has access to FTTP I doubt that any of the altnets like Hyperoptic would be interested.

These companies like desperate captive upmarket customers who have no other options so will be desperate to have them come and install: thereby merely swapping a BT monopoly for an altnet monopoly.
The last thing they would want is the availability of comparable technology from BT to the residents in competition with them.

When BT offer an area FTTP they do not also offer FTTC - its is a one or the other as the local infrastructure in the streets is quite different in each case.
