  • Hi all,

Interesting day today. I've been to hospital for an operation on my hip under general anaesthetic which has gone really well. Didn't even have to pay for the car park either as Mr Thistle dropped me off and picked me up. This has saved at least £10, not that I'd have been in a state to drive anyway!!

I've had this op before and it really helps with my mobility. I really need a new hip but I'm only 43 so I'm not allowed. Apparently it's the law!!:rotfl::rotfl:

So now I'm back at Mr Thislte's house being waited on. Well, he threw me a six pack of c0ke zero (BOGOF - he's learning!!!:T) and a B0unty four pack (bless:A) and has run away to Manchester for the evening. God love him! Actually it's a blessing because he'd just mither me to death!!

    In money news:

T3sco CC has arrived and I'm all logged on for Internet banking but the balance transfers are taking an age! I'm itching to get going with this. Do they not want my debt:mad:

Grocerywise, we are 2/3 through August and I've spent £59.21/£100.00 of my budget. I'm chuffed with this.
My YNAB is completely up to date and I'm rocking and rolling.

Popped into n@twest and s@ntander yesterday to set the ball rolling on possible remortgaging. I doubt I'm even in with a chance of getting a deal but at least I'll know what target to aim for before I can realistically have another crack at it.

Right, going to catch up on everyone's diaries now. I could get used to not having an obligations!

Lol, was bored senseless, having already read 7 chapters of my book at the hospital, whilst I waited to go down to theatre!

Anyway, money news for today is that the balance transfers have cleared, giving me a £4,250 balance on the T3sco CC and allowing me to clear my H@kifaxx CC and all but £400 on my S123 CC (which I have the money for but will clear after the Statement comes this week. I intend to keep using this card for everyday fuel and grocery spends as I get cashback, but I'll be clearing it every month. No chance of overspending as YNAB keeps me well and truly on track with this.:T

Just a little debt of £414 on my Ll0yds CC but this is a business advertising debt that my team reimburse me so no problems there.

    Getting organised!!

    Money income news:
My manager has agreed I can claim £200 for some work I did on her behalf along with a weekly fee of £4.50 for looking after someone not on my team, and I've £60 to reclaim for a recent visit I did. I'll be claiming that this week.

I also need to invoice a company I did some accounts work for in June & July, and they owe me for months before that too. I used to work for this company and know the MD very well - I sort of use this as a savings account. They probably pay me every 6 months or so.

Looking good for a strong August month end.

    Mortgage news:
I think I may need to get my mortgage down by another £8,000 before I'll be entertained by the lenders for remortgaging. According to Hx anyway. Still, it gives me a goal that I was already on with anyway!

    How's your week been everyone?

    T;)

Ps Hip is not giving me too much grief - paracetamol & codeine is looking after that particular ailment!

  • Just been asked to ring the church bells for a wedding next Saturday which will bag me £30 for half an hour's ringing either side of the service.

    £30/hr - I'll take that thanks!!

  • I just can't believe how tight lending criteria has become, at least if you knock the £8000 off, its money you'll never pay interest on again. That's how I'm viewing mine anyhow.

It might be worth seeing if it is better to hold some of the money back from paying off the credit cards to give you a better ltv on the house. A difference of .5 or 1% on the mortgage would make a big difference on lowering your repayments. I think martin discusses this one of his mortgage tips.

An independant broker should be able to help you discuss the options and figure out who to apply to, as you don't want too many mortgage application on your credit record
