Holiday sounds fab! Did the children enjoy it? We are hoping to do a day trip to Barcelona when we go to Spain next year but someone made a comment like
'urgh, taking my kids on a trip when you're meant to be relaxing is my worst nightmare'
Felt like I was being judged for even considering it!
Endless poolside games, contests and noise aren't my cup of tea but I'm striving for balance!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Thanks for the good wishes.
The children were taken to Cornwall by their grandparents, which is why we went really - a golden opportunity!
Cath that person must have really naughty kids!
Barcelona seems very child friendly with lots of little enclosed play areas surrounded by cafes with pavement tables. The kids stay up late - 11 - and were all angelic. There are also little supermarkets everywhere for cheap drinks and snacks.
Lots of beggars and homeless folk. The homeless people ALL had at least one dog and they ALL had plenty of German Shepherd in their heritage. There must be one superstud Alston roaming the city.
All the dogs and beggars very well behaved. Some very funny buskers who had to keep hiding when the police came round on their scooters.
The city felt very safe even late at night and no one tried to pickpocket us or was anything but charming.
DH is such a softie he sprung Puppy love from kennels early 'cos he missed her, and the Farrier came and caught the Plops no problem and they listened to Jeremy Vine together.
It is lovely to have everyone home and together (and safe, I am terrified of flying) but the washing!
I did have the presence of mind to book Mr T for this morning which is A Good Thing as a power cut meant fridge and freezer defrosted so had to chuck most of the contents.

Alsation not Alston. Stupid autocorrect.0

I thought I was missing something with Alston

Your trip sounds lovely, SHS, and yes, with the siesta being a proper length in Spain, the kids stay up late, but its sort of part of the normal day, isn't it. Gorgeous. So glad you enjoyed it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
