madmoney - take heart. A lot of us have had similar experiences (perhaps without the babylon) close to the start of our DFW journeys. You've gained some control of your life, you're probably spending a sizeable chunk of your spare time on here when before you would have been frittering away some cash with your OH, or moping about not having any cash to fritter. Does the snide comment "You love that bloody forum/Martin Lewis/the weird people on the internet more than me" ring any bells anyone?

You've discovered a fantastic new interest and your OH feels more than a bit left out. Being male though he doesn't know how to describe that feeling so eloquently so resorts to the back biting and grunting that many of us on here know oh so well. Isn't the ability to express oneself a wonderful thing!! :p

You have a couple of options at this juncture. You either try to encourage the OH by showing him posts on here. Maybe he'll get hooked (although then you'll have arguments about who gets the PC). Or, you do what I do, which is promptly ignore the OH everytime he gets a cob on and gloat about your burgeoning bank balance. That method seems to have been having an impact with my OH!!!

Your OH will come round eventually when he sees the benefits. He might not be a fully fledged DFW but if he stops getting at you so you can get on in peace then that's got to be an improvement. It's all about striking a comfortable balance.

Chin up, it'll all work out in the end!

Poor you. He will see the benfits you you get better off, but its sounds like it might be a slog until then.

Did he mean 'babbling on' i.e. going on about something a lot. - Just a thought. Certainly do that about mse myself ;):D

I'm with spendaholic on this one. Have an allowance each then if he spends his before the next bit is due, then its tough. He needs his lightbulb to come on but just don't allw anyone to switch yours off!!!
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

  • Hi, hope you're feeling better today.

Men are rubbish though, aren't they? I'm here at home with the kids trying to have a NSD and the other half has taken his mustang off to race - £30 entry plus track fee, and that's before he fills it with petrol or buys lunch (he doesn't make sarnies)!!

Nope. Your choice in men is rubbish. ;)
