I require some assistance on employment for my sister.
They currently work in a retail outlet and have been for the past 11 years, the opening hours are fixed 9-6 Monday to Fridays, 9-5 Saturday and 11-5 Sunday, which is also stated on their contract.
Due to a new shopping complex opening in the next month within a mile away they have decided to close the shop and move to the complex, due to this complex having longer trading hours they want their employees to work a fixed rota, and my sister has been shown her working hours and they include every weekend Saturday and Sunday but also longer days during the week (No weekends off), where as currently its on a rotating basis. With also the exception of longer hours over Christmas.
The above is not in her current contract, does this mean she should be offered a new contract or should they honour what is stated on her existing contract or offer redundancy if she refuses?
Also should the company not give more then 4 weeks notice of a move, as it was mentioned previously (earlier in the year) but only confirmed last week.
The other issue I have is that she is on the alarm call out list, but is not a manager, and the past 5/6 times she has been the one going to the store in the middle of the night, but does not get paid any extra except for taxi cost, where as people more senior seem to be not attending, I understand she has a choice but last time she was contacted by the police who said she had to come as the two managers were not answering the phone.
Any advice would be much appreciated, and if you require further information do let me know.
Thanks in advance

Stop answering the phone at night.
The problem is that what is on offer will be deamed a suitable alternative even if the contract does not have the necessary waffle to allow the changes contractualy.
Have the total hours changed?
Technicaly she should get 11weeks statutory notice to make the change if the contract does not allow for it, but they could argue that they have given notice just not the details.
Time to consult over the changes and make it clear that these new hours are not acceptable.
What is happening to everyone else this is a situation where people should get together and have representation consulting on the changes.
time to get the unuion involved was back when first mentioned.0
