Manchester / Orlando / Michigan Flights

Hi, 2 adults and 2 kids (8,10) will be travelling to Florida next April. I will soon be able to book the flights but would like to know how much (approx) should I be paying, what's the best time to book and which sites are the best/cheapest.
Also, within the 3 three weeks that we will be away I would like to make a trip to Michigan. Would it financially be better to book :-
MANCHESTER to ORLANDO return (+ an internal ORLANDO to MICHIGAN return flight)
or
MANCHESTER to ORLANDO outbound, ORLANDO to MICHIGAN 1-way and then MICHIGAN to MANCHESTER inbound.
Many thanks,

You might find that the cheapest fares are indirect anyway. I'd look on the websites of those airlines that fly transatlantic from Manchester and check which ones fly to Michigan. I don't imagine it would be a problem from Michigan to Orlando.
Then check with www.expedia.co.uk and www.travelocity.co.uk www.cheapestflights.co.uk
www.cheapflights.co.uk - I'm sure other people will come up with some more sites. Get a quote for both routes and compare.0 -
As you have school age children I assume your travel will be covering the Easter school holiday period?
If so flights will be very expensive to Orlando(£600-700 each) even indirect.
I believe the only scheduled airline that flies Manchester to Orlando direct are Virgin and they charge the earth.
I am not aware of any airline that flies direct to any airport in the state of Michigan - which airport did you want? Detroit?
Most charter firms only have 2 week duration flights.0 -
These all fly into Detroit Metro Airport
Air Canada
America West
American Airlines
British Airways
Continental Airlines
Delta Air Lines
Northwest Airlines
Southwest Airlines
United Airlines
US Airways0 -
In answer to your questions, we'll probably go just before Good Friday (taking the kids out of school for a day or 2) and yes, it is Detroit.0

My comment was that I was not aware of any airline that flew DIRECT(from Manchester) to any city in Michigan
Obviously Detroit(if indeed that is the city required) as a major city will be served by a number of airlines.0 -
I only meant that if amc was going to Detroit, that list would give him an indication of who flew there.

I wasn't sniping at your post at all. I'm sorry if you thought I was.:o0 -

In that case it will possibly be cheaper to go Manchester - Detroit - Orlando -Manchester as you will be going to Orlando after the Easter rush.
You might try to look at other airports in UKLondon/Birmingham) and Florida(Tampa) to see if that makes a significant difference in price. However, as I said earlier, at that time of year all flights are expensive.0 -
Can anyone provide a ballpark figure of potential flight costs for this or even just MAN to ORL. Thanks,0
-
As I said in an earlier post, I would estimate £600-700 over the Easter period.0

Is that per adult ? Do children go cheaper ? Thanks,0
