Shocking moment, but I managed to draw up a new budget and got my DH to actively participate!
Over the past few months we have been spending more than we earn (including £500 OP, so this could have been prevented if I had not made these payments)
Food/Drink and eating out is the the major expense. So I have addressed this by drawing up the following budget to try to stick to
Food £50pw
DH Lunch £15pw
Me Lunch £15pw
Pub £20pw
Misc £20pwTotal Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -

 Well done you and DH!My DH isn't interested in the details of the budget, but he likes the effect of sticking to one.
Good luck with the food spends, it's our main area of overspend as well.0 -
I second that hidden. Mrs SJ goes all vacant looking when I mention budgets, yet she loves to hear the mortgage drop effects.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

Paydays have arrived. New budget is in place as of now, but I still need to pay off the big credit cards from the frivolous spending over the past few months.
All monies have been allocated to their homes including my £500 OP for September. *feeling happy*Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -
Some money saving for me this morning. Mobile contract ended and reduced from £43.50pm to £10.50pm. Going to keep my existing Iphone 6 as there is nothing wrong with it so no need to upgrade. Although who knows what the Iphone 7 is going to be like. I am always tempted by new shiny technology lol.
For now - £33 savings pmTotal Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -

£500 OP sent today
Reached the £102k's now so another brick to colour in on my house on the fridge. Will wait for the update online to see if its knocked another month off the term or not. Fingers crossed I'm 1 month closer to being MF.
Got my multicar insurance renewal through and they can take a running jump. Managed to get a quote for half the price elsewhere for my car. Now to find something cheaper for DH as his has gone up stupidly as well. I think separate insurance policies are they way to go judging by the quotes this year.Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -
Yay for colouring in another brick!
Half price car insurance is  (at renewal price). Crazy.0 -
Done some moneysaving this morning.
Managed to shop around for car insurance. Initial renewal was £800 for 2 cars. Managed to get it for £480 elsewhere/
Got a 0% on purchases offer on my existing credit card which I have accepted. Nice to not have to apply for a new card, so not having another credit search on my file.Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -
