Just wanted to pop back and say I've got my fingers (or should that be digits) crossed that it all goes well today.
If your cat is anything like mine, you're going to have a sleepy, grumpy and utterly betrayed little girl this afternoon after her vet visit! It'll be good to have her on the mend though.0 -
Thanks for thinking of us VAP.
She has had her operation, which turned out to be a total replacement of her knee cap. Unfortunately she's not home yet - they want to keep her overnight to monitor her and give pain relief. I've had a few tears and am missing her. I know we aren't meant to have favourites, but she is my favourite of our cats.
Me and the kids have spent the evening obtaining a dog crate and kitting it out as she needs total rest for the next month to give her the best chance of a good recovery.
No final cost for it yet, but apparently I am still under budget...Not giving up

I'm sure she's in good hands, and it's the best place for her at the moment. When my cat stopped at the vets overnight, the whole flat felt weird without him- for someone who just sleeps a lot, his absence was definitely noticeable! I'm sure she'll be home soon enough though.
Complete rest for a month sounds like bliss! I hope your other cats don't read your post above mind! At least she's on the mend now- I hope the bill is coming out of her pocket money.0 -
The bill is coming out of pocket money, birthday money, Christmas money and anything else I can get my hands on!

I keep hoping it won't be the full £1000 but that's not realistic.
I have her son sleeping on the bed with me - pleased to be pinching her space

I paid £500 on the CC - thanks to those who suggested me getting it. The rest on my debit card. My aim now is to clear the CC as soon as I can.
She's doing well - cage bound for a month and complete with cone of shame. I'm just thrilled to have her home. Not giving up

Pleased she's home, cone of shame or not! Besides, there's something kind of cute about them- like the cat has had a fight with an anglepoise lamp and lost.
Do you know that funny bit on a cats ear- the bit that looks like an extra little flap (if that makes sense)? Well, that's called the Henry's Pocket apparently. Which is why I always tell my cat any expense (tuna, cat litter, vet bills, claw damage to the furniture etc.) is coming out of his 'Henry's Pocket Money'
He never seems too concerned.0 -
I hope the cat is doing well.
If it makes you feel better, my biggest vet bill (uninsured) was around £13k for surgery and intensive care for a horse.
I know, I know.

They really are part of the family though aren't they? I should be in London today enjoying a short break with the kids but we had to cancel. She's worth it.
A lovely friend of mine is running a sales event on FB with all commission going to the vet fund. Really kind of her.
Ouch - I know I couldn't find £13K if I needed to...Not giving up

No prizes for guessing why I'm in this forum....:D
She tells me she's worth the £13k, though!

Pleased/relieved for you that your cat is home and on the mend. It's very stressful when they're not well without the worry of vet's bills on top of it all.
We lost our beautiful dog this time last week hence this late at night post.
House is so empty without him. He would have been asleep on our bed if he were still here. I just wanted to recommend John Lewis pet insurance. I had it for the five years of our dog's life. Used it a couple of times and they were great. Very good customer service and every time I spoke with them I felt that I was speaking with someone who was a fellow animal lover. Very compassionate when I rang to cancel the insurance as I did get rather upset on the phone.
Sending positive vibes for a speedy moggy recovery xxPay all your debt by Xmas 2023 - #39 £2,570.09 / £12,000.00 (21.4%)0
