From one cat lover to another I am glad you got the finances sorted. However why not set up a just giving page anyway, us animal lovers on dmp's would still donate what we could every pound would be a pound less owed to the creditors......

It just feels a bit cheeky... I suppose I could do, but I don't know how I'd promote it to my fb friends - let alone people who don't know me. I wouldn't know where to start...Not giving up

I just wanted to post a quick update here, for those of you that have helped but haven't seen my diary. I have had an incredibly lucky day financially.
Long story short I was in a car accident last month and as a result I don't have the car any more (not a write off, but I lost faith a bit and replaced it). Anyway, today I received a £300 refund for some work I'd had done on it the week before I decided to get rid of it, plus another £201 credit for the service plan. This has made a massive difference to the cat operation fund so things are looking less stressful than they did last week, for definite.
Plus, being on here has given me a renewed motivation to get the DMP done before Christmas, as the best Christmas present to myself ever. Not giving up

Hi OP,
I very rarely post on here, but as someone who grew up in Sunderland, who also loves animals (especially cats) and has a lot of time for responsible pet owners, if you do decide to set up a just giving page or something similar then I'd like to make a contribution too. Either way, I hope the little fella/lady is ok.
Really pleased to see some lovely and caring posts from other pet owners too! :-)0 -
Thanks VAP - I'm relieved and thrilled that everyone has been so supportive. I was concerned people would suggest getting rid of her as an expense I couldn't afford, but that is never going to happen. I had a little look at crowd funding websites but just can't figure it all out, but thank you for your really kind offers (everyone on here) - I think I can make it...
She's ok - has dislocated her knee. We think she fell at some point. I spent £503 at emergency vet thinking she had been knocked over, and another £200 on meds in the 2 weeks since she started limping, only to be told that it would need surgically fixing after all. She's an older lady with a few existing conditions that made insurance something that I was paying for on top of everything else, and lo and behold they have found an excuse not to pay out again. Animal friends? Not her friend....
Anyway, I'm more than half way there so that's looking positive. I think I will cancel her insurance and put the £12 a month into funding...Not giving up

In my experience Animal Friends don't have the best reputation- as you seem to have found out the hard way. Our cat has already racked up a bill of over a grand so far- but our insurance has paid up without any trouble, luckily. Have you been in touch with the vets and talked about a payment plan at all? Especially if you've got a good contribution you make up front- it may take the pressure off you that's all.
I hope it all goes well, for you and her. Don't be afraid to come back if you find you're struggling- as the posts show above you and your cat have got a lot of supporters! Please keep us updated as to how you're both getting on.0 -
Thanks so much. She is booked in for Friday this week so I'm hoping that it will be pretty much done by then. Not giving up

Good luck for Friday - hope everything goes well & she's back running around soon (but with no more dislocating anything!)0
