Let us bring back Oliver Cromwell for starters he seemed to do a good job last time.

Whilst Oliver Cromwell alias Williams had his good points, he was a bit of a religious fanatic, which might not go down all that well in today's modern Britain.

Isn't that effectively what we do by buying loads of French generated electricity from EDF

    Yup.

And what's more we are already planning to "run a bit more cable across the channel" - IFA2, expected to be operational in 2020.

neither of you had me "nailed"i also claim other taxable benefits which added to my dla would mean i would pay tax (which i don't now)

as for vat its a regressive tax which punishes the poor,so reducing it to 15% would negate some of the other changes i proposed, you really need to read everything i say before judging what i say,it does help the debate

VAT isn't particularly regressive when it isn't charged on food etc..

I'm worried I'd make a rubbish fascist dictator, as I can only think of things like insisting all crisp manufacturers put Salt & Vinegar in blue bags, and banning people with ugly feet from wearing open toed sandals in summer.

I agree with the blue bags thing. Salt 'n' vinegar in green bags is like randomly stabbing old ladies in the feet from a moral standpoint. It's not fatal but it's a bloody nasty thing to do.

I'd make a brilliant dictator. It's something of an ambition actually. Not of the UK obviously, somewhere quite small and reasonably well off with nice weather. Salt 'n' vinegar crisps would be mandated to be sold in fairly light blue packets only. Green for cheese 'n' onion and dark blue for ready salted.

Vote Generali for a happier [insert rich Carribean island of choice]. Actually don't bother voting, I'll just bribe the army/unions. Maybe I could crowdsource the funds. That seems to be all the rage these days.

As I think that on another thread I mentioned that people produce thousands of times more energy than the sun (weight-for-weight).
Can we extract the energy from NIMBYs? They've got to be good for something. Surely.

I've always quite liked the idea of massively reducing income etc taxes and primarily taxing consumption. Probably tiered based on some kind of 'luxury factor'; makes tax avoidance less simple unless you really like beans on toast too, as a bonus.

Yeah, but when buying in bulk like this I want a serious discount :)

I would ban fake stone cladding and make fitting mock-Georgian uPVC windows and doors in Victorian terraces a capital offence.
