Isn't that something of a contradiction in terms
There is no 'something' about it. Thorium is simply just an alternative to uranium in terms of powering a nuclear reactor.

Move the X factor to its sinister second phase by filming people doing their jobs and letting the public vote them out one by one. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Forget building our own Nuclear reactors and just buy a couple of existing French ones. Run a bit more cable across the channel. Job done.
This approach carries a number of advantages :
a) the reactors would be in France if we had a leak
b) we can have them now
c) did I mention they would be located in France?0 -

Sizewel B was also a sucess built on time and budget. Ap1000s would probably be wiser. About 20 of em. They are actually a derivative of Sizewell B afaik.
