I've got some 'Golly' figurines I'm trying to sell which used to be promoted by Robertson's Jam/Marmalade (anyone remember ??)
I've had to keep reducing the prices, but the latest obstacle is.....
Ebay have removed my recent listing due to the fact that someone decided 'Golly' is now hateful or discriminatory despite the fact that this is the 3rd relisting of the same item.
Apparently there was an article in "The Sun" newspaper recently so we've obviously got to do what Rupert Murdoch says !!!0 -

I was about to post a thread about that.
By a strange co incidence I sold a few associated items at a car boot on Sunday - got virtually nothing for them but it saved me the hassle of dealing with ebay's panic way of dealing with negative press.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The restrictions are an option for a reason. I don't see it as making customers jump through hoops, I see it was keeping scammers from buying. No genuine buyer should have any issues buying with them restrictions in place.
If you're allowing cash on collection then no Paypal doesn't matter. While other payments may be fine if they don't have Paypal, I'd wonder why someone on ebay didn't have Paypal as most sellers require payment via Paypal. As almost all buyers pay via Paypal what difference does it really make if they keep that restriction?0 -

I agree that the way Paypal have scared sellers into thinking they are 'protected' as a seller if they take Paypal is clever, as out of cheque, cash, bank transfer or Paypal, Paypal is the least safe way to be paid - it's the only payment method that readily enables someone to reverse payments, claim unauthorized usage or exposes a seller to credit card fraud- paypal does expose a seller to reversals that are not possible with cheque or cash.
However on Ebay accepting Paypal is compulsory and has been for years, so while the brainwashing has worked on many sellers - plenty of first hand evidence on this forum of sellers scared to accept cash!, the reality on the ground is if you want to sell on Ebay, your Ebay career will be very short if you don't accept Paypal.
I have been selling on Ebay for 15+ years and used to be paid regularly by cheque and bank transfer prior to it being compulsory, but those days are long gone.0 -

True. However, as ebay say you have to accept it and almost all buyers use it I would still think it odd if someone didn't have it so better to stop those who don't have it from buying.
While there may be many safer options than Paypal there are also numerous scams that could trick a seller into thinking a buyer has paid. The buyer can keep opening ebay accounts without having to bother with Paypal too, which just makes it easier for them.0
