PTSD is a terrible condition and one which you quite rightly have identified is not curable. I do believe it's liveable though.....to a degree that makes it worth seeking treatment.

I'm very upset by an image that was shown on the news tonight :( someone removing the body of a young child refugee from the sea.....in Greece I think? It's so all over the news I can't keep up with what is happening in which country :( We can all have our personal crisis going on but I'm finding it increasingly upsetting to watch what these people are going through :(

Oh don't say that! I live in hope. And, as a coping strategy, even if it doesn't feel nice to have bad heart racing, I'm not going to accept the description of it as being "terrible". I did the same over my mother's death - hospital told me "people take a long time to cope with bereavement" and I thought "I don't have to accept that. Why should I? Where's your evidence to apply it to me?" and I didn't accept it - and I coped very well - was told by others I handled it much better than they might have done.

As for the image that's upset you on the news, there's nothing I can sadly to stop that upset (even if I could or should). I'm obviously rationally unhappy that you're upset - but I'm not going to let your upset become my upset as well and make me emotionally unhappy. (I think that's a good thing.) The image you've seen that's upset you is the same one that I have been posting about as finding not distressing to me at all (whether or not it "should" be). I think there probably is something that NTs are getting from this that, for me, is not being communicated to me from seeing the image and that that is actually "protecting" myself from upset on these occasions (whether or not it ought to) - but I suppose it's a "good" thing that something hasn't emotionally distressed me. I know what it's like to be upset, in various ways, at various times, though - obviously we all experience different things at different times and... :o:oI don't know what say again:rotfl::rotfl:. Please just laugh at my predicament and social inability, even if only as an attempt at a coping strategy of some sort. I hope you feel better from something soon. :kisses3: and take it easy.:)

[("Increasingly upsetting?" Perhaps best not to watch something - although, equally, it's no good to avoid certain things that are news reported in the public interest as we do need to know about sadly terrible events across the rest of the world. They're terrible. PTSD isn't - it's "not nice" but it's not "terrible". But I suppose, once you've seen enough to know, perhaps best to stop watching. And :o:ohere I am, able to watch repeatedly the reports without any distress whatsoever at any point. I'm not emotionally embarrassed btw, that's just a symbol, "embarrassment" on a rational sense. I could, perhaps sadly, watch for hours and hours on end and never be distressed ever - even totally without any warnings (and I don't think a point would come at which it would begin to distress me what has been shown). That is not to say that I would be "happy" to watch such things - I take no pleasure whatsoever in it. It is on again now - it's terrible things that happen across the world (rationally terrible to me personally - obviously directly impactive in the worst way on those directly involved, and impactive too, to some extent, on some viewers whom it causes upset).]
  • Good evening everyone.:wave:Hope all are well. Trying to convince myself to go to bed so I will have the energy to declutter the house tomorrow. Finding the thought of either very unappealing at the moment.

Always useless at comforting allistic people when they get upset - I leave that to others (in real life). I never know what to say for fear of making the situation worse. And then my not getting involved and doing nothing probably, unknown to me, causes upset. But at least others are on hand and I get out of the way!!

Hope you all feel good or better soon. I'm outta tha way!:rotfl:

Goodnight and just sending out hugs if needed etc.
