but dinner in a fish and chip caf! sounds lovely and something that we never usually do and I can get meals for just 3 :D
Hi mhoc, Nellie35, restaurant critic, reporting back from a field trip to the Town Fryer, Wrexham especially for you:)
Firstly the facts - Groupon voucher purchased using a 15% off local deals code (this has now expired) and Quidco successfully tracked resulting in a net cost of £2-42 per person for fish, chips, peas, bread & butter and tea:)
Meal was available as takeaway or eat in at no extra cost.
Fish could be swapped for anything else on the menu eg pie, scampi, chicken, burger, sausage etc.
Choice of peas, curry or gravy.
Tea or coffee (cold drinks were available but did not ask if these could be substituted)
One slice of bread and butter per person.

    Now the critic:rotfl:
The restaurant was quite small but nicely decorated and very clean. A very warm and friendly greeting was given by the lovely couple who run it. Service was quick and efficient and groupon voucher accepted without any problem .(I got the impression that they had seen quite a few of them.) The food was freshly cooked and served in a nicely designed open cardboard tray with the peas in a separate pot. The fish was a good size, nice white flesh with crispy batter that was not greasy. Chips were also quite crispy and, whilst not the largest portion ever, were plenty unless you have a huge appetite! As for the peas well what can I say, they were mushy peas :rotfl:The coffee was very nice and served in a mug.
I would rate both the meal and the whole experience as 10/10 and would recommend that you visit if you are passing this way. I shall be recommending the Town Fryer to friends and I hope that this new business venture is a success as it has only been open for 6 weeks and is run by a very lovely, friendly couple :T:T:T

well I persuaded OH to go to Waitorse with mixed results - firstly coffee machine was not working so OH did not get his promised coffee :(

I had a look at the Yeo valley Greek yogs that we have free MOCs for - no ginger flavour and only one coconut so I got this and a natural. I suppose this gives me an excuse to go again mid week. I've just noticed though the coconut one has a 17th August date :(
The girl took £1.80 off for each voucher but my 2 tubs had a multibuy offer so they were more than free

I found the missing date bars MOCs and used that - 4 bars for £1.99  - so those are being hidden just for me, not sharing those.

there was a lady doing 2nd reductions, nothing dirt cheap but I quite like trying waitorse ready meals so I got 6 and these were 79p each - very solid fish pie, vegetarian chilli, beef ravioli and 3 ham ravioli - so at least we have something different to try. Also got 3 cox apple juice reduced to 45p each - its a pity the multibuy discount now does not come off clearance.
also got my Times and the final bill was about half after the MOCs so I only paid just under £6 - not too bad with 3 meals with yogurt and juice for puds and breakfasts.

Thanks Nellie we don't have odeon, I have meerkat 2for 1 for 12 months. that is a very good deal also x
Yes it is, I also have meerkat movies. The groupon codes are good if there is more that 2 of you and have the added advantage that they can be used on any day, so ideal for the normally expensive Saturday night:)
