What sort of shower have you got. Most can deliver 10-15 litres a minute so a 10 minute shower will use 100-150 litres. Reduce your shower time to 5 mins and you'll halve it. Do it for all four of you and you could easily save 200 litres a day - even more if you fitted a flow restrictor (usually given away free by the water co). Fit flow restrictors to the kitchen and bathroom taps
Don't let water run down the sink when washing or rinsing stuff - including your hands & face. Turn the tap off when cleaning your teeth
Only use the washing machine & dishwasher when they are full - they take just as much water and energy with half loads as with full ones and learn to fill the dishwasher properly. Don't keep washing & rinsing the odd plate or cup, save it up in the dishwasher and do it all in one go.
Fill the kettle with as much as you need, saves both water & energy.
Reading your meter yourself once a week should help you monitor your consumption and you'll see how well you are doing to reduce it. It will also indentify any anomalies, like leaks or taps being left on.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
