We live in rural Somerset, the village is in a dip, we get frost and mist that near by villages dont! Our internet is diabolical, more off than on and when it rains you may aswell not bother turning on the pc!
We have Sky at present. We dont really use our landline so that can go so just internet and tv.
Partner suggested we try satellite internet. Anyone here have it? Good, bad, indifferent? Which companies to avoid?
Thank you

Slow speeds when raining indicates a line fault, i.e. water getting into ducts and cables. Have you reported a line fault to your line rental provider? That is not necessarily an internet fault-your speed will only be as fast as the line can support. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks macman, will try that first.0

I was looking into satellite here as well and the general consensus reading the numerous sites is it wont give you any speed at all
I live very rurally as well - 7 miles from the exchange (as the crow flies ) and slowly things are improving, they have added more boxes and are connecting more and more of us to infinity. However I still cant get it, although the upgrades of the boxes and the exchange has given me the giddy speeds of 3.5mb. Like you if the weather is bad then its off0 -
3.5mb??!! Id be grateful for half of that!!0

You and me both!
Mind you, I got myself a new Billion 7800 router and managed to increase my paltry 1.5Mb up to 1.9Mb by using its SNRM tweak.
We're promised FTTC sometime before the end of 2018, but I'm not holding my breath.
When people go on on here about their speed dropping from 50Mb to 40Mb and how disastrous that is for them, it does make me smile!0
