Thank you Enfield Eddy. I'm not sure how I did it but thought I had disabled Bing. Do I need to do more to get rid of it, please. I don't like it ' taking over' when I think Google is my 'saved' search engine and homepage.

If it cannot be deleted is there a good reason for this, thank you?

Are you getting Bing when Asking Cortana or searching from the start menu? This would open a Bing search in your Firefox browser.
The only way to stop this, at the moment, is to use Chrome where there is an add-on that diverts the searches to Google.

Thank you RumRat. I managed to disable Cortana when Windows 10 was set up. Should that be OK or have I unwittingly given my (novice) self more technical problems?

I search from Google on Firefox and when I click on another search or link it takes me back to Bing. I go into the magnifying glass box to search and it says search with Google - then I am later back with Bing.

I am using IE and have installed google toolbar , with default settings , and deleted bing
Thank you - I have done this in Internet Explorer but no success so far with Firefox. I even uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it but Bing is still around.

Hi, No, disabling Cortana won't cause you any real problems, It's a personal choice to use her or not.
Have you changed the default search engine in Firefox? Click on the magnifying glass in the search box - Click on 'Change search engines' - in the top box you will see your search engine. Change this from Bing to Google.

Yes, I've done that. I unticked all the other search engines and left only Google. At the bottom the box to tick 'Remove' was muted so I couldn't do that. 'Google Search' is the only one showing in the magnifying glass - I keep hoping it's fixed! Thank you for your help RumRat. If Bing comes back I might have to resort to rum - and I don't drink!

Update at 3.54 pm - I am slow on the uptake but I think I've worked it out! On both Firefox and Internet Explorer when I search from my Google Hompage it is always Google. When I search from the Windows search box (bottom left Windows icon on my desktop page) it always comes from Bing. Does this mean there is no way of sorting it?

Update on the printer - I honestly have no idea how I managed it but by 'fiddling' and clicking etc I somehow managed to get the printer to work. I hope it's a permanent fix. Thank you for the help given.

Sounds like you have just deleted the choice of search engines you had.....You have to change it in the drop down at the top where it says 'Default Search engine' It has to say Google in that box....Is that what you have?
If you search from the box on the bottom left, you will always get bing as it's the default search for the system.

Yes - Google is ticked as the Default Search engine. I understand now why I always seemed to go back to Bing as, you explain, it is the default search for the system. I guess it will always be there. I feel better about it now so thanks for all the help.

I can't take credit for 'sorting' the printer as it was 'hit or miss' or 'trial and error' but I'm pleased it is working. This forum is such a great help and is much appreciated.
