Parking fine for not displaying blue badge

I parked in a disabled bay at a shopping centre and forgot to put my blue bade in the window. It was a free car park and was just collecting a parcel. Was only in the shop for 5 mins at the most and didn't see the ukpc tickets until I got home. It is for 60 pounds. An anyone advise me what to do.

Read the "Newbies" sticky on this sub-board http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163 and then post there if you need any further assistance.

Display your blue badge next time....
Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....

As Richard says, all the information you need is in the stickies.

In a nutshell though - if this happened in Scotland then just ignore it. If it was England / Wales, it's not a "fine", appeal by following the process detailed in the stickies and you'll not have to pay a penny.

The Blue Badge doesn't apply on private property! Its the Equality Act that matters here and that applies regardless of badge.

OP needs to get into the newbies sticky for accurate and non-discriminatory advice.

Just to say we have done this twice over the years. First on the road in a disabled bay, went round to the parking office and they immediately let us off. Second time was in a cinema car park and they kept chasing us, ignoring recorded letters we never paid, in fact we moved a couple of years later and and just sent the letters back marked gone away after they had been forwarded to us. In the end they stopped.
Now I would use the letters formatted on this site and appeal.

Yes - Simply ignoring a private ticket is long-outdated advice the law changed back in 2012. This is why the OP needs to get in-about the Newbies Sticky to see the most current advice on how to get shot-of these guys properly. There is a section specific to Blue Badge/Equality Act issues.
