Broadband connection through Satellite

Options
I need to set up a broadband connection using satellite because its too remote to receive it through the phone lines. So remote that BT says that it would work no better than dialup.
Companies I have tried so far want to not only supply the equipment but install it too making this option doubly expensive.
I am quite capable of installing a dish to a chimney and wiring up the system.
Could anyone recommend a company that will give a connection and simply supply the equipment thats necessary?

    Hi mate,

Don't think it's possible to do this..although I may be wrong.

The only other option is to get internet through your mobile but I know this can be quite costly.

I had it a few years ago now, you need a 80cm sat dish and LNB, you download ultra fast but uploads are via the phoneline so quite slow, cant remember the company that it was now , it used a DVB TV card in my PC to download and it was about £20 a month.

Sorry cant be more helpfull, i will have a dig aropund and see if i can find some paperwork about it.

EDIT: Found this and you can self install, from £9.90 a month

Thanks for that but I notice its one way, downloads only. I think I still need a system that works both ways

We use it on construction sites.

It works for uploading and downloading.

Have a Google. I think you will find it typically costs over £1000 for installation/hardware (outright purchase) and £60 per month, for a high capacity service.

Watch out for the MB cost for higher usage on the cheap services.
