Thanks everyone. We're getting there ... Riad booked for first 3 nights. I have been looking at one of the two Riu hotels which where very reasonable but was going to book one twice the price with better reviews. Might readdress following Fluff15s post :D

I can recommend Medina Gardens. It's a Thomson all inclusive right in the centre of Marrakech - a five minute walk from the main square but an oasis of calm!

We also had other trips to other places in Morocco, but used the hotel as our base. We stayed in Riu Tikida Palmeraie.

Thats us booked. 3 nights in a Riad and 4 nights at the above hotel.

    Any suggested trips? :D

We went to Azilal waterfalls for the day, really beautiful. The hotel organised an airconditioned taxi and tour for us, although you don't really need a tour guide when you're there. Was about 1 hours drive away.

We also went to Essasouria, massive beach, stopped at a co-op argan oil manufacturers on the way. Essasouria also has a souk, but it is less busy than Marrakech. Took about two hours to get there.

I'd also recommend a day or two in the Atlas mountains. Try a local hammam if you're brave enough, my skin has never been so soft - your Riad will recommend a good one!

We are back! Loved it, so different from anywhere we have been before.

Would not go back to AI as the only positive here was the pool.

I think we would have been better splitting Marrakech with a coastal/beach town.

    You live and learn :D
