Marrakech

Our flights are booked for October :D just need to decided where to stay.

We were thinking about staying in an all inclusive for the duration and just visiting, however now thinking about 3 nights in a Riad and 4 nights in an out of town all inclusive.

We are a family of four (all adults).

Any thoughts or recommendations of those who have been welcomed.

There are so many wonderful street food venues, restaurants etc that I wouldn't consider staying in an all inclusive in somewhere like Morrocco to be honest.

We ate out and it was very cheap, and the experience of eating in 'true' Morroccon restaurants was fab.

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

Marrakech is one of those 'must visit' destinations.
But it's also a 'love it' or 'hate it' place too.
In either case I think 7 nights is too long, and don't do AI as you'll be missing out on what's on offer outside of a stale hotel.

One of the highlights of Marrakesh is the food stalls in the Jemaa al Fna every night. You'd completely miss that if you went all inclusive.

If you find Marrakesh gets too much, I recommend a trip to Essouira for a few days. It's a few hours by bus from Marrakesh. When I went to Morocco I had a few days in Fes (which I don't recommend), then it was something like five days in Marrakesh, four days in Essaouira, then back to Marrakesh for a few more days.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

That is part of the reason I was considering splitting it. The last four nights just complete relaxation:D

    Thanks for the replies.

Highly recommend Riad Chayma or La Maison Arabe.

we are going in October and doing an exact repeat of a holdiay 2 years ago. 3 nights in a riad about 15 mins walk from the square, 4 nights in a quiet hotel in the foothills of the High Atlas. I've never stayed anywhere more peaceful than that. Our Riad is Ksar Anika, and the other is Kasbah Angour

I went AI in Marrakech just because that way it was easier for drinks and breakfast, and when the AI was the same cost as SC it made sense (although I did go for 9 days) - we still ate out almost every night at Jmna el Fna as we had a free bus through the hotel, and eating out cost around £5. We also had other trips to other places in Morocco, but used the hotel as our base. We stayed in Riu Tikida Palmeraie, and the food on offer was lovely when we did eat in.

They use the Morrocan Dirham, which you can exchange at the airport, or many places take card anyway. You cannot get it here before you go as it's a closed currency. Exchange small amounts, say £200 a time, as converting back can be painful if you don't remember your slip.

Just back from 2 weeks at the start of August.

As per everyone above, split it, 4 nights in the medina with 3 nights at an out of town to chill out.

We stayed at Riad Misria in the Medina, & Sirayane out of town & would thoroughly recommend both.
