If the towing cars gross weight was 1250kg and the towed car including trailer had a gross weight of 1050kg then yes it would be OK to tow it.
But you need to look at gross weights not kerbweights or unladen weights.
Your 1250kg car would be something tiny that would be well under 1000kg kerbweight. The gross laden weight will be 350 - 500kg more than the kerbweight on average.
Can you think of any cars that have a 1250 GLW that are able to tow something with a GLW of 1050kg?
It's legal, but i can't think of any cars that make it possible. All your base are belong to us.0 -

I don't think there's an awful lot of combinations that make it able to happen.
I.e when you have a vehicle that's designed to tow a heavy ish trailer, it's likely that combined MAM of towing vehicle and trailer will be over 3500Kg.
I remember reading that there was basically one car that would be light enough to fit on a trailer within the MAM weights, and then only with a handful of towing vehicles.
IIRC it was some sort of Mini type car that only weighed in at about 500k.0 -
That's what i thought as well.
It's possible to tow certain things, but the way the legislation is written makes it very difficult to tow most things other than a small trailer. All your base are belong to us.0 -
It depends on the towing vehicle. Some, such as Land Rover Defenders, Range Rovers, Mitsubishi Shoguns etc. can tow up to 3500kg. For which you would need a B+E licence.0

That's what i was meaning. On a regular provisional or regular car license post 1997 you wouldn't be able to tow a caravan or heavy trailer with a car on it as the MAM of both will be beyond 3500kg.All your base are belong to us.0

Possibly, but with the addition of a trailer to stick the car on then the figures drop much further.

My sister's hubble can only tow their caravan if my sister supervises him.0 -
Off topic, but why do so many people say Robin Reliant?
You never hear Mondeo Ford or Clio Renault. It's normal to put the make first and the model second... or is the convention different for three wheelers?0
