The name is just for your reference, it is not used in any processing. As long as the sort code and account number are correct, your DD will be set up and work as expected.

    Thanks too.

I really appreciate the help here, even though I had a 'mousey-brown' moment.

Got nPower and BT sorted - just 02 to do. Council tax (and water rates) paid in full each year and mortgage free.

The cashback is not too much but it's better in my pocket.

BTW, as a BT customer, you can get a pretty unbeatable SIM-only deal for your mobile. Just a fiver a month for 200 free minutes, free texts, 500 MB data, unlimited BT WIFI, and £50 off a handset in the BT Shop. Less than half the cost of a comparable O2 deal.

Would you not prefer just to pay 99% instead?!

These 2 statements would seem to contradict each other. If the money is better off in your pocket why on earth would you want to pay out up to £2K (in my case anyway) in one go when you could spread it over 12 months?

Not even half that much for me - and it's the way I like it! I wanted to cut down on my monthly outgoings, you may think it perverse it's how I operate.

Many thanks -must have missed this offer but unfortunately my contract has four and a bit months left to run.

I've just downloaded the new O2 app which tells me exactly how much data I use, who I have texted and rung. Very impressed.

Anyway, 02 is done and I have no more useful DDs to move to Santander.

How is paying 12 months in advance cutting down on your monthly outgoings? You'll have 1 month with very high outgoing, compared with the remaining 11 months. You are also foregoing the interest you could make on the money if you paid monthly, and you don't get any discount for paying in advance.

I'm not going to go into my personal circumstances.

Nobody asked you to reveal anything personal. It's simply a question of maths.

You are, of course, entitled to spend more of your money than you have to.

No, I spend exactly what I have to - what you mean is I'm entitled to not earn any more interest than I am able to.

    Yep. That's about it.
