Migrating from BT to Plusnet - final bill question

As per the title I am in the process of moving from BT to Plusnet (zero termination charges due to price hike).
My changeover date is 21st August and my final scheduled payment to BT goes out by DD on 7th August, on the email confirmation from BT about the swap they urge me to keep the DD in place in order to pay the final bill up to 21st cut off date.
I hear so many horror stories about BT taking incorrect payments resulting in a time consuming process of clawing back the money from them that I am considering cancelling the DD after the 7th August and then paying the final bill when it is generated and I can confirm that it is correct.
Is this the safe (best) option or should I just let the DD run on until the final bill is settled?
Thanks

Let the DD run otherwise you are in breach of contract .Dont want them to trash your credit record .0

You are just gonna have to grit your teeth and hope they get it right.
I'm in the same boat, for exactly the same reason as you, OP. BT have already sent me an email stating they want £60 equipment charges and £155 early termination fee - upon ringing them they state they can't stop these emails going out, but I'm not being charged for any of the stuff shown on the email
We'll see, I guess.0 -
Thanks for the replies, fingers crossed then that they get it right0

as BT charge about a month in advance you will probably find they owe you money rather than the other way round0

I was in a similar situation to you. The difference being my switch over date was 2 days BEFORE the next BT bill. We switched on the 5th and the bill is due today. There was no way i was going to let BT take close to £200 out of my account when they wouldnt be entitled to a single penny of it (should be no charge on final bill, in fact they probably owe me about 50p or something stupid like that) so i did cancel the DD. All that happend was they phoned up and said thats ok but there would be an admin charge for paying the final bill in any other way. Since that should be 0 it wont matter either way.
Unfortunately you will owe them cash so its probably best if you leave things as they are.0 -
Think the bill will be the least of your worries! We're switching to plusnet from BT. Phone went through on Tues am. Still waiting for broadband four days later. Very nice people at plusnet call centre but it ends there. Very poor experience so far.0

Just about all migrations involve Openreach and they are generally reckoned to be worse than useless. The recipient ISP almost certainly isn't the problem.0

switched from bt to plusnet on 3rd august - switch went fine but as expected another bill from bt this week with further months line rental and calls package despite email from them confirming i left on the 3rd - phoning bt is a complete waste of time as despite providing openreach job number and reading out their sorry you left email all they can say is ''my computer says your still a customer'' - they owe me refund for line rental and broadband from switch date til new bill date but have serious doubts i'll ever see it - like matanui above i have cancelled my direct debit and will await further promised ''final''bill with interest0

Email the CEO (google can help with an email address), this usually yields greater results.0

wife had call from bt indian call centre tonite - ''you have cancelled your direct debit'' - yes as we no longer have any services from bt so dont intend letting you help yourself to our money!! ''but what about payment for bt sport'' - was cancelled in june and not on last 2 bills so no idea why we would want to pay for it by dd now!!! seemed clueless about calls at weekend re inaccurate billing for a service we transferred on 3rd august - almost laughable how useless bt customer service are0
