laptop under 299.99

I'll be getting a 299.99 refund from e buyer for a faulty laptop that is taking too long to repair.

My requirements are basic

- basic photo editing with GIMP
-net browsing Inc I player
-word and PowerPoint use
-usb to connect to ext hd
-dvd drive (optional now for the first time due to blu ray player in tv)

Based on last point should I be looking at a net book?

Previous had 15 inch screens. Open to smaller. Open to grade A refurbished.

Ideally don't want to add to the 299.99.

If I have cash leftover after the 299. 99 then all the better.

Thanks in advance

Ps not lenovo basic - their keyboards are horrible.
