I love noodles, but would rather not eat them at all than have the horrid 'healthy' versions. If I were you I'd just cut back on portion size.0

Don't often just eat 100g then throw the rest away. If you round that up to a full packet that's a heck of a lot of saturates.
The ones I've got are over 50% of daily recommended limit of saturated fat! and nor far off that for salt either.
My packets are all usually under 100g. In fact, I've just got my current collection out to check. I have 7 packets:
70g, 85g, 108g, 70g, 85g, 85g, 85g.
Maybe you could start by buying smaller packets!0 -
No need to be such a raging fury.
If you must know OH and I are trying to be as healthy, partly for our own sake, as we possibly can be because we're wanting to try for a baby. So we're getting at least 6-7 a day fruit and veg, lots of fish, portion of salmon a week. Limiting intake of crap But I'd still like to be able to enjoy the foods I like and I've got a real craving for noodles but can't justify them when they're so blooming fatty. Hence asking if there was healthier equivalent
Our first pregnancy ended a month ago in termination because the baby had a serious defect, anencephaly, that meant it would not live more than a day past birth.
Now they don't know what causes it, they think higher dose of folic acid will reduce risk of it happening again, which OH is taking, but she and I both feel better knowing that we've made this effort to be as healthy as possible this time so we can't blame ourselves if we're unlucky enough for something like this to happen again.
I am awfully sorry to hear about the loss of your child, Ian.
Some noodles are greasier than others, but I have heard that it is mostly sprayed onto the outside, so if you bring them to the boil, then discard the water and start again, most of the oil should be removed.
Also if you turn the noodles into a full meal, for example with chicken breast, mushrooms, sweetcorn, spring onion or peas, it can be pretty healthy.0 -

They're talking about the weight when cooked in accordance with the instructions. This is how the %fat etc is specified on the label, not as a % of the packet weight.0 -

I know someone else who was fooled by this and wondered why they weren't losing weight on the noodle diet they thought was genius. Weren't taking account of the weight when cooked as opposed to the weight of the pack!0 -
Not sure about how healthy they really are but I like the fresh egg noodles, stir fried with some veg like sugarsnap peas, and perhaps some turkey breast marinated in some chilli sauce before hand. Less healthy I do like drowning it all in soy sauce after, but a bit over should be fine.
I think a lot of the salt is in the flavour sachets, perhaps you could get plain noodles and cook them in low salt stock cubes?
Or just keep them for an occasional treat. All the best for the future.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

What is the issue if you eat them once a week?
As long as the rest of your diet is ok whats the problem?
Maybe I am missing something who knows.

I had them daily for about two years at uni
More recently it's been about twice a week. I tried making some vermicelli yesterday as a snack, only takes 2 mins to boil. Then just gently warmed some chilli flakes in a tiny bit of olive oil, then tossed it together. Will have been much healthier with the tiny quantity of oil and no salt added. Was alright.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

One problem with not having the fat would be that it would not provide a full-enough feeling to avoid over-indulgence. Most people do not use them as an extra snack between meals - they are to replace a meal.
Why should one meal not contain a bit more than 50% of your saturated fat?0
