Hello all,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this. Please direct me if im wrong.
I will be picking up my new qashqai from my nearest dealer on thursday. We have so far paid a £250 deposit on it and been today to sign up the nissan finance paperwork , as we are taking up the finance deal. They gave us our registration number which i was pretty surprised to see that they have already registered the car without us putting any deposit down apart from £250. Did all this 2 hours ago, only to get home and checked the email that another dealer 10 miles away is offering the same new car £1000 less than the deal we signed up for.
I'm struck now as to what to do. Would i be able to backout from this offer at this point or am I obliged to buy it ?Any suggestions greatfully recieved.
Back to the point in hand...
You could talk to the dealer - but if you try to walk from the deal they certainly wouldnt be obliged to refund your deposit and they could - theoretically - pursue you for losses.
It may well be that the other dealer only has one at that price in a specific colour, or an old spec, or, or, or.0 -
I don't think I would buy a diesel anymore with all the DPF problems , it doesn't matter which make you choose, if you only do short journeys you will have problems.
Indeed, but even without DPF issues, the generally higher upfront cost of buying a diesel means that, for a low mileage user, the fuel and tax saving will never refund the original premium.
Like people keep quoting on here, people who spend an extra 10K on a new car justifying that it'll save them £30 a year on road tax. You gonna run that car for the next few centuries to make that saving then?Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Your not thinking about the long term benefits. If they keep the car for 200 years the scrap value maybe enough to make it worthwhile.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Now they're "rubbish French cars" with "reliable Japanese" badges.
Well at least the badge will last then
Tbh my dad gave me a Nissan Note diesel which has the Renault engine in same as the Qashqai  and we've had that a couple of years now and its been fine,
It had a random spell of using engine oil about a year ago but it seemed to stop doing it
We always buy Jap cars usually (or would have German)0 -
Even if (worst case scenario) you lose the £250 deposit, walking away from that 'deal' will save you £750, so worthwhile.
The whole point of a deposit is to secure the deal, so it should be non-refundable but why not check the T's and C's that came with the paperwork you've just signed?0 -
Thats not the worse case scenario. The dealer could rightfully sue you for losses over and above any deposit lost.
You entered a contract, do the right thing and honour it.0 -

Out of curiosity, did you trade in?0 -
Hello all,
Thanks for your replies. Contacted the dealer and they wouldn't price match. But have thrown some extras in to make up for the difference in price, which we are happy with. So going ahead with the purchase.
By the way, we are going for the petrol model, as have heard there has been issues around DPF filters. And we are not part exchanging.0
