  • Hi everyone,

My fiance and I just bought our first house a couple of months ago so it's going to be an economical xmas!

I'm doing movie night hampers for all the couples. Here's how I'm saving money, hope it helps anyone who's also saving.

    Hamper contents:

Movie - Max price £5 from Amazon.com (made a new account got a free Prime trial)
Snacks - Ready made popcorn (Butterkirst is on offer atm everywhere) Malteasters (sharing bag), Jelly Babies (sharing bag), Big sharing bag of crisps (Walkers sweet chilli sensations are on offer) Total cost for all £5 per hamper
Candle- £3 scented candles @ Matalan
Drinks - Maximum spend of £6 per couple. I have a few non drinkers who I'm buying Shloer Celebration Bubbly (looks posh it's only £3!)

    Total Cost Per Hamper: £16 - £19

I just need to get something to put them in now.

A HUGE help for me was the £20 off £80 spend at Ocado. I actually made a new account just to get the offer (I'm cheap I know but £20 is a lot lol). So I've got most of this stuff for free :)

I just need some help deciding what to put in the hamper for my future in-laws. They are diabetic/low fat diet teetotallers. So no snacks for them! Any ideas what I can put in for them?
  • Posted on the correct thread but will put here as well as I brought some to go in my hampers this year

Wooden boofle letters 39p each http://www.boofledirect.co.uk/boofle-gifts/wooden-letters.html
    from home bargains

They were all in one basket so you do have to sort through.

Thanks to everyone who has posted ideas on this thread :T

To those making movie hampers remember that Poundworld has small and large popcorn containers that could be worth a look.

Oh and for the football hampers, I have just found on e-bay a programme for the team my BIL supports from the year he was born. Not expensive but maybe worth considering?

I dont know if you have used Sainsburys - they had an offer for signing up to online delievery, when I did it it was £50 off over 4 weeks, then every 3 weeks they send me a email - uve not shopped with us, come back we give you money, this week £15 off £100 spend, - while I was using Mr S, had emails from Mr T, we miss you, have some money off your next delieverys...

For inlaws - I would say avoid diabetic choc etc, eat to much and its the small room.... have they any hobbies maybe go down that line??

    Congratulations on the house xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

I used these last year - small one for gifts for each of my players and staff and the large ones for Christmas eve box for us and a movie hamper for my parents. They all went down well - definitely recommend them!

Still haven't started on my parents treats hamper yet. I get the feeling it may end up being done mid/end of November!

I have seen the works are doing diy hamper sets with a small/medium wicker tray, shredded tissue paper, non shredded tissue paper, cellophane and a tie for £4 could be handy :)

  • So happy to see this thread again!:xmassmile

I did four hampers last year but the recipients were all a bit bemused so won't bother with them again. Instead I'll just do one for my mum who has a sweet tooth so finding goodies to fill it should be easy enough. Thanks for all the ideas - keep them coming!!

This is a great idea. Or you could buy the programme from a special game like when the team got promoted or won their league etc.
