The weight plate on the car shouldhhave 4 weights. If it only has two, it's not homologated for towing

Looking online it does have a towing capacity but no one agrees the actual weight.

It is the MAM, not the actual weights.

The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences)(Amendment) Regulations 2012, amended the principle regulations.

    Sch.3 s.46 (vi), For towing with a 'B' licence:

"Motor vehicles, other than vehicles included in category Q, AM, A, F or K, having a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 3.5 tonnes and not more than eight seats in addition to the driver’s seat, including:
(i)a combination of any such vehicle and a trailer where the trailer has a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 750 kilograms; and
(ii)a combination of any such vehicle and a trailer where the maximum authorised mass of the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes.”

Good spot. That looks totally backwards to me though but I guess I must be wrong.

Sadly but unsurprisingly the dealers may be unaware of any towing restrictions.

When your tyres need renewed you maybe could fit a higher profile tyre.

Have you got a AL-KO tow ball fitted? If not fitting one will give you 50mm extra height.

    towbar photos

Hopefully I've just added some photos that show the difference between my colleagues and my tow bar.
Also a picture of the vin plate showing four weights. I can tow a maximum of 1500kg.

TBH I would forget about it.
It may scrape occasionally as my V50 one does on steep short inclines.
But the police will never bother to check it.
it is probably one of these things where you ashouldn't ask the question if you don't want to hear the answer.

I think you're right loskie, I'm fed up thinking about it.

Have a look at post #12 as things have moved on.

Looks like they fitted the wrong one there or fitted it incorrectly, Unless your suspension is lower than the other one you took the picture of?

Take it back to whoever fitted it.

Looking at the photos forgetting the distance from the ground, there is a vast difference to where the towbar is in relation to the rear bumper.

You're tow bar also looks a lot further from the body then the other.

Could it have the wrong neck on it?
