Nexus Upgrade

I currently have a Google Nexus 4 which is just over 2 years old.

It still seems to do everything I need it to do, but the battery has a job to last all day.

I'm on a sim only contract which has passed it's 'minimum term'

Should I replace the battery? If so how?
Or replace the phone?

:)

There are guides on youtube on how to replace the battery yourself.
  • i have exactly the same phone and same issue, plus working 12 hour shifts i really have to ration my usage which is really frustrating.

Other than abysmal battery life and dreadful camera i still love my Nexus 4 after 2.5 yearl

I am contemplating the 3rd gen Moto G my wife recently bought the 2nd Gen and it seems a really good phone better camera certainly than Nexus 4, it is slightly slower and less responsive than my Nexus though.

There is a new Nexus 5 due out soon but i think this will be far more expensive than the Moto G.

The strict moneysaver's answer is to get a lipstick sized usb power supply, (£7 to £10). Unless you are very DIY savvy the battery replacement is fraught with hazard.

I too have this very able phone and plan to keep it going carefully until it suffers screen damage that these glass faced devices are prone to. The Moto G would be a cabable replacement, though DYOR on camera resolution.

The battery's only been like it for a few weeks
The camera is fine by me :)

I'm sure (?) the local phone shop could help :)

I scratched my screen in the first week, but since then ...... shhhh! :D
  • I would echo what thefirs said a couple of posts back. Instead of dismantling the phone its easier to just get a usb charger that can fit in your bag/pocket etc and take that wherever you go so you can charge it up almost fully while on the move. EE *were* giving these things away until today but i'd look for at this Anker one on Amazon for £10. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005QI1A8C

It may be cheaper (?) but I don't concur that it would be easier :)

I'm a simple 'phone and wallet - go' sort of guy and would probably forget the 'lipstick and cable' idea ... or would forget to charge it back up!!
