So I just called back and a very rude man told me he's got no idea if I will receive any money at all at any point.. I asked him if something is wrong with my claim or if it's been stopped or anything. He said nothing is wrong with the claim and that he's no idea why it hasn't been paid or if it will be paid at all. As you can imagine I'm now in a terrible state.
My nearest CAB is not even in walking distance. I live in London and have no car and no money for bus or train fare. I'm starting to feel suicidal.
Well in that case call your local mental health team. They'll immediately come around talk with you and provide you with a food parcel.
Their recommendation to my OH when she was feeling like that before I met her was to stop paying any rent at all and buy food and essentials.
Do you have their number or know how to find it?:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

My mental health team won't do anything at all. You have to make an actual suicide attempt and then they will tranquilize you and admit you to the ward. This happened to me a few years ago. They won't offer any form of support beyond that.
I'm going to ring my GP to see if he can prescribe a tranquilizer. Not sure they still give same day appointments though0 -
Have you rung your utility company? Do that now.
One step at a time.
Have you a local church near you? They might help. A Salvation Army?
Have you searched in all pockets/down the sides of chairs/settee for the odd coin. No neighbours/friend you could borrow the bus fare from?
Where in London are you? Near a Job Centre?0 -

Hi, I'd imagine I do have churches near me. I'm not a church goer. Would I just walk in there and ask for help? Searched everywhere for coins. I've got a bag of 1p coins that I can cash in at Sainsburys, I'd say there's about 50p in there.
The nearest Job Centre is about 2 miles away. It is walkable. If I go in there can they help in some way?0 -

Since it is a fair distance away I would telephone the Job Centre and see if you need an appointment. You don't want to walk there and find out that you won't be seen without an appointment.
As regards the church. Just walk in and say you need some help. Explain that your benefit hasn't come through and you need a food parcel - can they tell you where to go as you don't have money for the fare?
You could also try ringing CAB - they might signpost you somewhere without an appointment.0 -
Have a look at some of the information here
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/help-if-on-a-low-income/foodbanks-and-other-help-in-your-area/Contact your local council and ask if there is a foodbank near you, and what other help may be available.
They will have a better idea of what is available close to you.
Try not to panic, easier said than done I know. With any luck your payment will be in soon0 -

Do you not have any friends at all that you can all on at least for a cup of tea and a biscuit?:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

Probably not today but no harm in trying. You need to do internet searches to see if they're even open anyway seeing as though it's Tuesday and if they are there's probably no-one around to ask anything of. They might just open the building and disappear for the day and close it later. You really need to get to know the congregation on a Sunday. It's amazing once you get talking to people how many invitations you'll get to peoples houses. They are a generous lot.

I don't have any friends who live within walking distance. That's one of the problems with London, it's massive. I grew up in a village, where you could easily just walk round to somebody's house. Here, you'll probably need a bus and a tube to get there, at a cost of at least £5 total.0 -
How can they not pay money when it is owed here ? , Sometimes when you read this stuff it looks like the staff believe they are paying the public from there own pockets.0

Yeah, I do find their attitude very strange. I spent my whole adult life until I became ill working full time and obviously paying my NI. I wouldn't be even on ESA if I hadn't been ill enough to "pass" a medical that seems to fail half the applicants. I don't know how they can fail to pay people who are eligible and already ill and not even bother to warn them the money won't arrive. And then make it basically impossible to speak to anybody directly about when the money might come. If they'd called or written to me warning me this delay was going to happen I would not be in such a horrible panicked state right now. I think any reasonable person would be quite worked up if they had bills to pay and the money they live on just suddenly failed to arrive with no clear idea of when it might arrive in future0
