How can I get to speak to a real person at BT?

Options
I have been with BT for 2 years. I have paid an upfront fee of around £150 per year for the last two years for line rental and I had budgeted £160 for this year. I know that the broadband is going up £1 per month.

I would like to try Sky instead as it is only £16.40 per month.

I am trying to get through to a real person at BT on 0800 345 7310 but to no avail. I would like to ask them how much an annual renewal fee would be for another year.

I am also worried about loosing my @btinternet.com email address which I have had for over 15 years.

Does anyone have a number for BT where I might get through to a real person - probably not but some how I managed it last year!!

Also does anyone have experience of changing email address after many years and also what is BT's policy on this?

Any thoughts gratefully received as I can hardly justify paying an extra £200 a year just to keep an email address.

Current Advance Line Rental is £185 a year .

Email unless you are paying for it then you do not own it and will eventually lose it .
Usual is for the dead account boxes to be deleted every so often .

Bt email can be kept if you choose their premium service,I think it's currently £1.60 per month.

  • Thanks everybody, I will try 150 and see if I have any better joy. I have decided that it is worth saving £200 pa to move to Sky so will see how that goes. I might even try a new email address or I will look into keeping the existing one which would be less than £20.

Just get a Gmail address, that way you won't lose it when changing providers.

Has anyone ever actually had their BT email addy cancelled? I left them 8 years ago and have ignored all their warning emails asking me to pay to keep the service and all my old @bt's still work!!
