How many did you view before buying

  • Just the one we bought! Only went to look at it initially as a 'test run' before we started seriously viewing houses! And fell in love with it, kept an eye out on rightmove for the next 6 months and nothing else came on that lived up to it.

  • Two, I had lined up a third property to view but the EA informed me it had a leaking roof that had not been repaired and the alot of the woodwork was rotten (nice to have an EA that was upfront).
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

Rental properties are much worse. They don't often show the inside of the property online so from the outside the property looks fine but once you get in then you find how bad it really is so a completely wasted journey.

I viewed the inside of about 4 properties before buying one after viewing about 12 about 2 years previous before giving up so I already had an idea what I wanted.

    23 for me.

The very first one we viewed we liked a lot but it was slightly out of our budget and the lower offer wasn't accepted.

Then viewed 20 more all of which were either overpriced, or lovely properties in terrible locations but we finally settled on one that we thought was 'acceptable' and were about to put an offer in.

Then we saw one that looked perfect and went to view it and made an offer on the spot thinking we had found our dream home.

Got a phone call 20 minutes later from another Estate Agent about a house that had just come in so had a look as we were in the area not expecting anything as we had now made an offer but the house was perfect so our other offer was hastily withdrawn.

At 20 viewings we thought we were going to have to 'make do with the best we had seen' so to do 2 last minute viewings before making our offer and find 2 perfect properties was a bit of a surprise.

6 months later I still think we got the best possible home we could have for our money so glad we did do so many viewings even though I was sick of them at the time :)

We viewed less than 10, (I think it was 6 or 7) before we put in an offer on the second house we saw (and now live in).
We narrowed it down on RM, based on roughly what we wanted, although you never get the perfect house I guess.

and the house we bought was only one we had thought we may like the look of, not one of the ones we had narrowed down to. We only went to see it as it was the next street up from another house we were looking at, and on with the same EA and the EA said we could see them both within the same morn, so we thought we may as well.

For my first house I viewed 17 properties (12 in one day), went on holiday, my then partner sold his flat so put an offer in on one of the houses whilst sat on a sun lounger :)

For this house we viewed 5 houses. We knew we wanted to buy this one before even walking through the door! We put an offer in whilst driving home from the viewing. Just hope we don't lose it whilst trying to recover the chain.

6, one too the estate agent gave us was to write any notes down on the paper trails of things that you liked or disliked. It then becomes easier to remember. We knew as soon as we viewed the right house tjough

Just the one - and my OH didn't even get to see that until a month after our offer had been accepted!

By weird coincidence, we only showed our house to one person too and accepted their offer without her husband seeing it either :)

About 30 in 2 months. It was a total nightmare. On the other hand, at least we knew immediately that the house we bought was the right one, having seen so many that were unsuitable! It didn't help that we were looking over a very wide area, so lots of those viewings were to get a feel for the neighbourhood as much as viewing the houses themselves.
