There's nothing to stop you from doing this. But it depends what the faults are - some "non-safety-critical" faults are not tested in the MOT. Also, a failed MOT will only prove that the particular fault was present at the time of the test - it'll give no indication as to the state of the car when it was sold.
You may be better off finding a friendly mechanic who can do a proper assessment on the bits you're particularly concerned about - although you've still got the problem of proving the car was sold with these faults, rather than them developing later.
What are the faults you're worried about ?0 -
You can get an MOT done any time. Might be better asking a garage for a report on it, rather than an MOT though0

Booked in for the morning.0 -
An MOT is only going to tell you the condition of the vehicle at the time of the test, My mate took a car in with no reverse gear. He just found a station where they drive in one way and out the other so no need for them to select reverse.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Not really sure what you expect on a car for £995. If it's got MOT till next year then it's likely that things will need doing to pass the next MOT. That sort of value car from a dealer is going to have potential issues purely due to the price once their margin is considered.
MOT may show it would fail now but existing MOT was valid at the time of being carried out in Feb 2015 until Feb 2016.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
regardless of price I would expect the dealer to sell me a car that was "as described"
He failed to mention all the problems saying the car ran perfect with no faults.
As I am doing a chargeback with Barclays I need evidence of the faults.

So for £995 he sold you a car which "ran perfect with no faults", and you believed him.
Good luck with your claim.0 -
