Although I've no experience of booking it yet I anticipate no problems. One piece of advice,if you do use your vouchers and you want to take out travel insurance, the only policy that would refund the value of the vouchers if you needed to claim is, yep you guessed it, Tesco Travel Insurance!!

www.travelinsuranceweb.com cover your clubcard vouchers and nowhere near the price of Tescos, well they did when we used them in March.

I'm looking to book with vouchers for Florida late 2008 / early 2009.

When I get a price, will I only have to pay the deposit as you would normally do, then the balance x weeks before travel? I've got about half the vouchers that I need, and if this is the case will be able to get enough vouchers in the remaining months before we go.

    Is this feasible?

    Thanks

You need to send the vouchers in within a certain amount of time after booking (5 days rings a bell, but probably best to double check on the Tesco website).

This means that you need all the vouchers when you book.

Unless you need to go on specific dates/specific accommodation then you can always hold on and book nearer the time (might get a better price too)

It is 3 days and best to send by registered post.

and yes your best to have all the vouhers in your pocession before booking
if booking with cosmos, your as well booking as soon as you can because you don't get discount, if paying with tesco vouchers. You pay brochure price.

Thanks for that info. It seems a bit unfair that Kosmar holidays don't qualify as it says nothing on the Tesco T&Cs with XL. I can't find a Greek holiday NOT provided by Kosmar.

It appears we will therefore be going to the Costa del Sol for October instead. Hubby has visions of thousands of Sun readers there and I have visions of thousands of wrinklies! This could be interesting as we've only once ever done a package holiday to a place in Mallorca where we were the only British family in the whole hotel - Torremolinos or Marbella here we come.

:rotfl: we love the CDS,except places like Torremolinos which are full of "english" bars etc

    Nerja ,Marbella,Puerto Cabopino,Puerto Banus,BenalmadenaRonda are nice

plenty for kids to do ,though some things may well be shut at end of Oct .

we always used to go out of season, either Oct or feb and were lucky with the weather, still swimming in the sea weather in oct ,and warm in both feb & oct

better than here anyway thats for sure  :rotfl:

Thank you to everyone who replied. I received my last lot of clubcard vouchers last monday. Sent them to Tesco's the same day, received my Cosmos holiday vouchers back on Friday, booked a holiday to Cyprus last night and had delivered my vouchers to Cosmos today. Pretty good going I think, thanks Mr T!!

    Amazingly easy, isn't it?

Went in Tesco the other day and was approached by an employee asking if I had a clubcard...I laughed at her and said yes thanks, have been on 3 free holidays because of it...and then proceeded to explain to her how the scheme worked:rotfl:

Will second travelinsuranceweb...I got an email from them vouching they would reimburse clubcard vouchers should anything go wrong-and a fraction of the price of tesco travel insurance.

  • As stated above, the Tesco website says if you have been saving your Clubcard Vouchers for XL Tokens, you must have ordered your Tokens and booked your holiday or flight only, with XL by 31st October 2007 for travel up to 31st October 2008. We flew to Faro this year for free and saved £1,200, so this is a sad loss. I see Mark Warner Holidays (who are affiliated with XL.com) are no longer available either.

Even worse, the Tesco website also says if you have been saving your Clubcard Vouchers for P&O Ferries Ferry Travel Tokens, you must have ordered your Tokens by 17th November and made your booking by 30th November 2007. P&O Irish Sea is unaffected. The removal of P&O from the Tesco clubcard deals scheme is a sad loss after the initial closure of the P&O Le Havre route. We have saved many £1,000s over the years esp on Bilbao crossings. However, you can also convert your Tesco clubcard vouchers into Air Miles which can then be used to purchase ferry crossings via any of the major operators inc P&O, Brittany, DFDS and Condor. You have to phone Air Miles on 0870 55 777 22 for the price though and thus I have no idea whether it's worthwhile (60 airmiles = £2.50 clubcard vouchers). If you have an older Tesco Credit card which gives 1 voucher for every £2 spent non tescos (ie 0.5%) then it's still better than the Air Miles credit card where you get 60 miles for a £600 spend as opposed to a £500 spend with Tescos.

Eurotunnel is still available on Tesco clubcard deals but no doubt that'll end soon and all you'll be able to do with your Tesco Clubcard vouchers is buy flowers or go to legoland (again).

Does that mean that XL are no longer doing the Tesco deals?

We were really hoping to book a flight to Egypt with them but unfortunately can't book until after November. Cosmos holidays to Egypt are much more expensive than booking flight and hotel seperately.

    Thanks

Yes, thats right. You have to have booked your xl/tesco flights by end October 07 and travel by end October 08.
