I sold a dress on Sunday and have had a message today from the buyer to say they have posted a cheque today and could I post it asap as they want to wear it next Thurs. Item is £30ish I might have considered it but a couple of things have put me off , firstly if they were in a rush they should have sent payment Monday, their message was in text speak, and this is their last feedback from a seller (but the seller is no longer registered).
Item received month ago. Suddenly open dispute in Paypal to claim back the fund
Feedback Score: 67Positive Feedback: 98.6 I think I'm probably going to decline politely and say that if I receive their cheque tomorrow or Sat then their cheque will probably not clear before Wednesday/Thursday.

Never send anything until you have received ful payment.
I would email the buyer and tell them that you will not post it untill you receive cleared funds and that if they don't want to wait for the cheque to clear then they should send cash by special delivery and if they include the extra postage you will send the package next day delivery0 -
nope i wouldnt post at all!
sounds very dodgy,if they were in a hurry then they should have used a postal order0 -
I wouldnt send anything until the cheque was in my bank account and cleared - if they do send a cheque, make sure it has cleared at the bank before posting - i made that mistake, sent the item and then the cheque was returned to me. I was lucky, they later sent a postal order, but i couldve been a few quid down, and no item as i had already sent it.
If they did want the item that quickly, i wouldve thought you wouldve had a payment by now, and maybe postal order and not a cheque to guarentee the item would be posted for when they wanted it.0 -

That's how con merchants work..not that I am saying this is a scam, I still wouldn't send anything until i was completely sure cheque was good.
Politely email and say that since she has chosen to send a cheque you are sure she will understand that it will take some time to clear, and as per ebay's instructions you will ship once it is clear. Always blame the delay on ebay..it gives them very little room to come back to you again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thats pretty much what I've said, bearing in mind that I have no idea when the cheque will actually arrive I can't really give a definite day for posting, lol.0

DON'T POST IT!!!!
Yes they could have posted it Monday and trying to trade on your goodwill is unfair.
A polite e mail as suggested stating payment needs to clear prior to posting.

If they have a cheque book, they have a bank account and could easily do a direct transfer if they want it that badly. tell them they can cancel their cheque for free by saying it has been lost, and give tehm your details for a transfer."There is a light that never goes out"0
