When Did Ebay Become Such a Rip Off

Wow, not sold for over 12 months? What happened to free listings under a £1 from the mobile?
20 items a month and then 35p an item.
Been having a proper clear out and have around 50 Disney DVDs to sell as the kids are not kids now, certainly not paying 35p to list a DVD that will sell for a couple of quid.
Might as well save your own hassle and Music Magpie them, the offer more than a quid for most Disney.
Shame have loved Ebay for over a decade, my sellers page tells me I have sold over £5000 worth since 2002

Unless you are selling thousands of DVD's or it is something rare then Music Magpie or https://www.ziffit.com (which I personally use and find to be much better) is probably your best bet. Even without the 35p listing fee (there are loads of free listing events if you hold your stuff back till then)0

They changed the offer because they thought it was better. 100 items starting at any price is quite a lot though so they lowered it to 20.
I don't see how that's a rip off. Yes, over 20 listings it cost 35p, but you're paying to use their platform. It used to cost before it you started items at over £1 or went over 100.
Why not sell the DVDs in bundles? You can get rid of more in one go and you could easily put 50 DVDs in 20 listings or less for free (with any start price).
As already said, there are often offers on for listings. Check ebay to see if you have any other offers (free listings or savings on fees).0 -
Oh I am still selling in batches of 20, but it just gets more and more expensive. If you sold a DVD for £2 after paying the 35p list, you would lose close to 70p of the £2 in fees !! That in anybodies book is quite steep?
I keep seeing all these posts for 100 items free listing for personal sellers? Can anybody explain how you get into them? I've been on ebay since it started and sold items on and off all this time, but I've never had one of these invites?0 -
If you have a facebook account you could sell them on local site.
Have to agree with you, I am also done with ebay, rip off merchants is how I see them now.0 -
Actually I think with ebay and paypal fees it would be around 80p. It's a lot. However, fees are just as high (or higher) elsewhere.
Check your ebay account. Look at the selling page, at the bottom, it'll show if you have any offers. I don't have the 100 free listings, but I do have 25% off final value fees for ebay. For some offers they send emails, others you have to check ebay for.
They claim it's random who gets the invites.0 -
Thanks, it just says I have the 20 for now. Hopefully as I list more it may change.0

There's a thread on here about free listings so keep an eye on that and your ebay account. There'll probably be more offers soon so hopefully you'll get something. It seems very random though who gets offers and what offer they get.
You can always try amazon, gumtree or facebook.0 -
There is a free listing event most Sundays and sometimes midweek as well , all tend to be by invite only. So get in the habit of checking your all selling every day.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Totally agree.
It wouldnt be quite so bad if that was all you paid, but then you've a final value fee, and then a paypal fee to take out too. Oh and if the buyers expectations arent totally met, no matter how high, then probably best to let them keep it for free, to maintain the "buyer experience".
Totally what i do, btw, sell stuff to online buyers now, not try to sell on ebay.
Ebay, sadly seem to have forgotten who and what made them great in the first place.0
